AVIN 8.8inch - who has this?

Now that you got it fixed, how you liking it? I still haven't pulled the trigger lol

I'm not sure yet. I'm still getting a feel for things. I think it's cool if I can get everything to run smoothly but at the moment I'm still playing around with it.

Good on some songs, worse on others. I need to play with the EQ on the legacy side. There's some graininess in the highs (like in rap songs voices sound a bit raspy). Overall it's good though.

Ugh, go to turn on my AC and it only blows hot air. Not sure what happened but I must have done something incorrectly when putting the dash back together I imagine. Everything worked fine prior to the install

Hmm this is bluetooth right? Try turning down the volume on the phone end (to like 60-70%) and then turning it up on the car side.

This helped! I added a CarPlay dongle from amazon as well and now the system is really delivering value. I'd say carplay/android auto is what can really make this thing worth it.

Can you link the CarPlay dongle you used? CarPlay is the only reason I'm considering this. To be more specific, I just want Waze up on the iDrive screen for police alerts.

Hey guys, is there a consensus on which unit is best to buy?

Here are my questions.

I have a 2008 e93 that originally came with the CCC unit.
I retrofitted the CIC unit in but still have the CCC laying around.

What would be the better option to go with when purchasing?
Should I tell them I have the CCC or the CIC? I can go back to CCC if i have to. I can really care less for the CIC.

What I really want is to play BT audio and get MHD on the display. Thats all I want.

I don't care for any other features.

Hey Victor,

It really just depends on what plug you have behind your entertainment center. If you have CIC, you probably need the CIC version. The difference is

CCC system - 10 pin LVDS connector
CIC system - 4 PIN LVDS connector

If you are an audiophile, here is my .02, the sound quality of bluetooth audio is really degraded. With that being said, if you have an iphone, the carplay adapters give off VERY GOOD sound. Any connected device gives great sound (Aux, usb, sd card)

Installed mine yesterday :

No AUX cable required on the one I bought. Simple install, took about 2 hours and I never installed something like this before.

What’s your car config like then. I believe it has less to do with the android unit and more to do with the car

I dont care much for all the features i'm happy with my cic setup but would like a second screen just for MHD for flashing, logging and gauges that show peak hold and warning.

Wonder if i can just buy the trim and system hook up power/ground to it and run the OBD cable?

Mine is a 2008 E90 base model with base audio. I suspect they have made some progress with how the android unit is wired - and was very pleasantly surprised when I realized I didn't have to run the aux cable.

Hopefully somebody has the answer to these questions using the usb carplay adapter.

1. My voice control does not work in Carplay
- tried turning off bluetooth and was unsuccessful

2. Everytime the car starts up, it asks permission to use Carplay USB, this is annoying but acceptable - Is there a way to fix this?

You can only log and use diagnostic features - you cannot flash. Very disappointing
