How to start tracking?

Some racers believe that auto-x leads to a choppy driving style on the big track. About half the people I track with do both and it doesn' seem to slow them down. Auto-x a great intro into prepping your car, braking techniques etc. and you will meet a lot of great people.

Digi - I see you are in the southeast. Go to www.trackschedule.com and you will see the track dates for the southeast for every track. Which state are you in? I can give you some suggestions on which tracks you may like better than other and which will be harder on your car.

Also, I agree with starting out auto-x'ing. Great way to learn how to properly apex turns. I started auto-x long ago and still enjoy it. I do road race but the ultimate rush is hillclimb events which are solo events. Nothing like doing 70mph+ through a tight turn and only 4 or 5 feet from a 200' drop cliff, then crossing the finish line in a four wheel drift clost to 120mph headed for a brick wall and regaining control. Then after finishing, pulling over in line with the other finished competitors with your hands and legs shaking and your voice crackling. MAN I LOVE THAT ADRENALINE FEELING!!! Nothing beats it...Nothing!!

Note: not me driving but it is a BMW M20 motor and the video isn't sped up. It's real time and he's one of the best drivers I've ever met. I've driven the sister car to this one which is here in the U.S. but not at a hillclimb. Lot's of fun but too expensive for my piggybank.
