RSi Downpipe- most powerful bolt-on for N55
you n55 Owners should check out this downpipe. it's got the highest gains of all the n55 downpipes. rather than splitting the single turbo downpipe into 2 sections like stock and all aftermarket downpipes, it's just a single downpipe. will require custom single midpipe but the gains are worth it!

go to www.rsituning.com, they currently have the pre-order up for the f10 535i. this is hands down the best downpipe for the n55. custom midpipe should be no problem for any exhaust shop

I have been trying to preach this type of a DP forever now as well... Best DP you can have is a single!

$600 for the downpipe, plus labor to install the downpipe, which Ive seen range from free to almost $250 or so for some people. Now, on top of that, you have to pay someone to cut your exhaust and weld some pipe back on. You lose if you want to ever go back to stock, unless you want to pay again, and even for that small amount of work. The labor plus any clamps and pipe they have to use will probably run another 200 on top of what it cost to install the downpipe itself. So now you are close to 1000 dollars for a downpipe and a you get an extra 10hp and maybe 20tq over the 370 dollar BMS pipe? This is very good gains, but you can see from the picture it is not a stock 135. They have replaced the midpipe resonators/cats and its basically a turbo back exhaust with the stock muffler.
Me personally, I cant justify the extra almost 500 for just 10hp and 20tq. Its is a very good design though. Hopefully BMS can do something with this and make it in to 400whp. Terry needs to put his FMIC on and then this pipe and I bet he will be very close if not there! |

it's only 10whp/20tq on boost levels. up the boost and the gains over the bms, ar design, or other downpipe could increase significantly.
$600 is a little high, but for the innovative design it's fair IMO, it's the same or less than the price as the ar design pipe, but yields better power. |

The true comparison would be the RSi dp with full exhaust vs. one of the current aftermarket n55 dps with full exhaust.

If you notice in the picture, this 135i that they are claiming is stock, has a complete midpipe. So unless people are planning on getting a complete midpipe, I dont think they will see the 55tq they are claiming. If you go to the RSI website, they already offer a pipe for the F10 535s, and it only makes 20-30tq. |

I'm curious the actual theory behind this... if you don't split the downpipe, you'll have to split the midpipe... it's the same amount of restriction, just further down the exhaust stream (unless you only use a single inlet, single muffler exhaust).
Also, the $600 that everyone else charges for downpipe lies in the huge pain in the ass it is to merge 3-4" pipe into two 2.5" pipes. This downpipe needs none of that fabrication, should DEFINITELY be significantly cheaper.... hell they didn't even weld a flange on the cold side. |

Also, any modification needed to the exhaust to make this fits kinda makes this pipe non-bolt on wouldnt you say? |

Still, back to my point though, that exhaust in the picture with the blue car is not factory. This pipe that is claming to be bolt-on is not. When you have to cut and weld and clamp and whatever else, that is not bolt-on. I can see where all the power is coming from, they took all the drastic bends out of the stock daul setup from factory. Thats where the power is coming from, and the downpipe. I realize the $600 dollar quote I said about the downpipe is just my speculation, I was just judging it from what their F10 pipe is. So I dont want to be the one to get flamed if its a little cheaper when it comes out . |
