Hey guys, since some of you are on the fence about the Audi guys joining our meet. I just told them that we'll include them next time.

So, it's only going to be Bimmers + 1 or 2 other makes.

Btw, check the first post from time to time, I will be updating it as the day comes closer.

If you need me to add anything to the first post, please let me know.

If I win one I will give it to anyone who wants it FREE. I am glad they are doing something for us. I really tried to get m place to do something but they really dont understand. Maybe next time if I show them what JMK did. I will keep trying guys.

I remember back in the day these FRS radios were either really good or really bad. Ill pick up a couple for myself but I dont wanna go breaking the bank. However, I want some that will work as far as possible. What does anyone recommend?

FRS, as any land based communication system is limited to it's receiving/transmitting distance by it's wattage. Send/Receive distance is also influenced by line of sight between 2 radios. Realistically, if you're in the car communicating with another vehicle, you'll be lucky to get 1/2 mile for any meaningful communication.

I bought mine from Target. I got the Motorola T8530R for about $50 if I remember correctly. It says that it has about 18 miles range.

I've used them with the Maxima meets that I went to in the past and they work great. It helps keep everybody together.

That's the main reason I want at least every other car to have one. The last meet we had at Garden State Plaza was very unorganized and a lot of the people got lost going to Hooters! lol!

Ok, so I just did some research and the models with the furthest range are both FSM and GRMS. However, with the GRMS models it says you need an FCC license to operate. Is that just "suggested" like the yellow signs "suggesting" lower speeds around curves? Or do you really need a license to be able to use it?

For us keeping up with each other on the highway, the FRS radios will do. Plus, we're not going to be racing anyways. I just want to cruise from our meeting point up to Bear Mountain.
