Rebuilding turbo's

Has anyone else accomplished this task for the N55s and/or N54s?

Rebuilding to OEM spec...? Why would you wanna do that? If your turbo(s) are blown, thats just a perfect excuse to upgrade to a PS2

Yes/No, There are upgraded turbine shaft wheels that will fit. As well as compressor wheels. I would love to continue with you but your not relatable to the topic. Good day sir

What are you trying to achieve? Rebuild a stock turbo to a stage 1 in your garage? This is one of those if you have to ask you probably don't have the right tools in your garage. Search for turbo builders you could send it to instead.

I am "Upgrading Turbo's" Stock Turbo's Sir. I asked if anyone has accomplished this, I didnt ask for part numbers or steps in doing so Thanks for the recommendation but i prefer to do things myself.

I have the right tools for the job, Why is it a problem for me to ask if others have done what i am doing or have done? Geez you guys are a tough crowd. no bueno

Some people like me are happy with the HP I have. After stage2+ IMO you need to upgrade other stuff as well like suspension.

At that point just save up for an actual M car.

Once a turbo has been stripped and rebuilt, it has to go on a VSR machine to re balance the compressor wheel to the turbine shaft, you can't just put them back together, then it has to go on a flow rig to set the waste gates up so they are flowing within spec, this is not a DIY job.

With how vague your post was it could be taken several ways. This is not a forum I would expect anyone to say yes they personally rebuilt a turbo. Might want to try the more technical forums.

Can't you just buy a new CHRA already all set up and pop it in. And do the waste gate arm fix and you're good to go?

You could just fit a new core, but when waste gate has been disturbed they need to be reset on a flow rig so the dme or dde can control the electronics side of things correctly. its not like the old days when you just adjusted the actuator rod to increase or lower boost pressure's.

Doesn't that depend on the wastegate ? If you have a PWG you can still adjust it. But i believe to my understanding its still electronic in a way?

I have those resources as well, I was just asking in general if anyone has attempted or completed this task. So its about a 40% DIY in a way.

Yes a local turbo builder in New Zealand rebuilt mine with an upgraded compressor wheel. Started with me asking on an NZ forum, there are photos here too:

Resource - a stock or supply of money, materials, staff, and other assets that can be drawn on by a person or organization in order to function effectively.
