oil leaking where trans meets engine?

well i brought my car in for service yesterday everything went fine, but then they told me that i have a major oil leak where the transmission meets the engine. now i'm not an expert on bmws but i know for the undercarriage i have the plastic the i guess protects everything, but my question is that does the plastic cover up that part or no? and if it was so "major" wouldn't it come through the plastic?

Are you sure it's from there? The oil might be pushed there from you driving it

If I recall correctly there is a seal that can go bad and start leaking.. search the forums for 'mechatronic sleeve'

It probably was the mechatronic sleeve. I had to replace mine out of warranty. That was a lot of fun!!!(sarcasm)
