BMW Hi-End Individual Audio - VO 752 - Retrofitted to E91 Touring
Just thought I would share this here.
I have owned my E91 for nearly a year now, after selling a brand new F56 MINI due to an expanding family. The MINI had the full HK sound, and it was great - it was one of the only things I really missed from a spec perspective compared to the 3 series. I'd had a E81 1 series a few years ago and in that I installed the Alpine upgrade along with Logic 7 subs. I remembered it being good, so I did the same with the E91 this time round. However, it cant have been that great as sadly I was just left wanting more when compared to my previous F56 MINI's HK system. I had thought about trying to go aftermarket - but in the end I decided to take the plunge and go for a full OEM retrofit of the Hi-End Individual Audio system - which I was very lucky to find for sale from a guy in the Czech Republic. I purchased the following full Individual kit: It's contents are as follows: Amp Wiring loom MOST optical loom for amp 1 x centre co-axial (2 in 1 speaker with a mid / tweeter) 2 x front door tweeters 2 x front door mids 2 x underseat sub woofers 2 x rear door tweeters 2 x rear door mids 2 x rear headlining flat speakers The install was a big job - with the rear headlining still to be tackled in a week or so - we simply ran out of time yesterday. Two of us worked on the car from 7:30am until 4pm, and as you can see - pretty much most of the interior had to come out! The end result though is a seamless install - with full functionality of the equaliser and surround mode - the CIC was coded to reflect the changes and the VO updated to suit. |

Sound wise.
Simply, it is incredible. The clarity at high volume is outstanding, and defies belief in all honesty. At very low volumes it doesn't sound much different to the Alpine / L7 sub combo - however as soon as you start cranking the volume this system comes alive! Cost wise - it was substantial but to find one complete with effectively a plug and play loom was a very rare opportunity to I just had to go for it! |

I've read a few people suggesting that, also read plenty of people saying the keep it.
I thought it sounded worse with it disabled, but I've ink listened to music on it for about 20 mins so far |

people want more synthetic bass at lower volume with weak signal source (AUX, FM, low-rate MP3) while it require uncompressed CDDA to output all details

Wow there are speakers in the headliner for the E91 with this audio option? Impressive!
Personally, I'm not a big fan of this in my M3. I agree it has amazing clarity, but it sucks in bass response. It gets too boomy and muddy when I turn it up. I wonder if my underseat subwoofers are on their way out...

Yeh, it's a little known thing that the E91's have rear speakers in the headlining.
Only with Logic 7 option, or with Hi-End Infobidual Audio option though. FM radio does sound a bit 'muddy' with the Individual Audio, but with a good quality CD, it's fantastic!! |

You could also get away with simply coding the CIC to m_individual_sound and turning off the Logic 7 function in the CIC TRC and MAN file.

options coding more functional because AMP itself should be coded to body speaker configuration
