Went to open my car the other day and when I opened the handle/door, I noticed the handle "stuck" up (pulled out) ... i was like WTF took a look and realized it was because the handle is "loose" and the edges didn't line up and got caught.

How can I tighten this? it was 8pm and obviously dark out so I didn't really look when it happened.


unrelated: my rear door locks "roughly"... it makes "odd non-smooth latching sounds" when I hit the auto lock/unlock button... door lock works fine though. This something I can get fixed under CPO? No way should my door lock like this and at some point am expecting it to go out.

I assume you mean for the rear door latching roughly... can I get replaced under CPO?

Don't see why CPO wouldn't cover that.

if you have CPO.. first thing you should do is drive that car to the dealer..

I get that it might be a wear item, but when my window regulator went out from "wear and tear", they had no problem replacing that... I would think the door locking system would be the same?

That moment when you google search a problem, and find a thread on it you started 3 years ago!!

My drives side, EXTERIOR door handle is still loose. Hasn't been causing problems, other than driving me crazy.
Door opens, closes, and locks just fine.

If you look at the drives side door handle... the piece with the keyhole is fine, and solid.
The part that is loose, is the actual handle part that you pull to open there door.

Is there any way to tighten this?

I tried searching, obviously, but everything that comes up is for the interior door handles.

There should be a rubber plug in the side of the door. Pop out the plug, and there's an allen bolt that holds the lock cylinder area in place. I think it's 4mm? Remove the bolt and carefully pull out the lock cylinder. It may require some prying, or it may slide right out. Then you should be able to slide the handle towards the rear of the car and it will come out. I'm not sure exactly what would make it not line up correctly, but that's all that's involved in removing it so you should be able to see why it's not aligned. Be careful not to drop the bolt inside the door panel. I like to put a small magnetic pick-up tool in the hole and hold on to the bolt as I loosen it the final couple turns.

By time they do tend to get "stuck up", i.e. you sometimes need to push them back in manually.
On mine during warranty I had experienced this, upon complaining to dealer they replaced the handles without question, SA's response was it was something common.

After warranty a few years later they started to get stuck up again.

So I just applied some plastic safe grease at the sections where it goes in and out and rubs the rest of the mechanism. That cured the problem and since then they are still fine after a few years. I used my favorite plastic/rubber grease: ShinEtsu Honda grease https://www.amazon.com/Honda-Genuine.../dp/B006Z9TZ9M

Their looseness may not be a problem, depending on how much loose and how much it is bothering you.
