Autox Take-offs and tire choice
Hey guys,
So over the past few months I've really gotten into autox and have been shredding my stock runflats. I need to find a set of replacements and probably take off rims. I've heard a few people are running Kosei K1's in 17" with a 40mm offset and have been running 235/40/17 or 235/45/17's all around. I just wanted to make sure thats the optimal setup for autoxing. How strong are the Kosei's? Would I be okay running them around town to get to autox's or on mountain runs? Or would they strictly be for racing around in the lot. Also another stupid question... they aren't listed on tirerack for the e92 so do I just call to order or what? I'm pretty sure they still offer them... Lastly, how much of a difference is there between the Dunlop Sport Z1 Star specs and Bridgestone RE-11R's. My brother has RE01Rs on his 318ti and they are like glue so anything comparable to those would be great... I just don't know if the Re-11R's are worth the extra 220 bucks per set. Any other recommendations? |

Kosei K1's are great track wheels. If they are used for the track, there would be no reason they are not ok for the street. I would give Gary or Doc a call for E90 fitment Kosei's if you can't find any.
As far as RE11's or Z1's, I would suggest Z1's if you will occasionally autox and daily drive it. RE11's are very expensive and it may give you a few miliseconds over the competition. Both are great tires none the less. Charles@VMRWheels
