Freshly Rebuilt N55 Oil Leak

After thousands of dollars and waiting 6 months for my engine to be rebuilt I already have an oil leak

Only about 2k miles on rebuild. Looks like one or both of the oil filter housing gaskets are bad. Hard to tell in pics but oil is running down front of engine and making it's way towards back while driving

. Hopefully that is it because it looks like it is following seam between head and block(head gasket

)

Going to do the OFH gaskets tomorrow but don't want to waste my time if it's something else for sure. Appreciate any help!

If they f**ked this up on the rebuild imagine the workmanship on the inside

Well, that's assuming this was something they touched on the rebuild. I'd feel better if it wasn't.

Supposedly all gaskets/seals were replaced during rebuild. Will know for sure when I open up the housing... Besides the leak, no other issues. WedgePerformance even checked out some datalogs running couple custom tunes he had put together for old engine and said they looked super smooth.

Really hoping it's just the OFH gaskets.

I thought I had a blown head gasket because I replaced my OFHG last year and had oil in the same spot. Also had tons of oil in the coolant. A week and 50+gallons of tainted coolant later... turns out it was the gasket. When I took the housing apart the entire gasket around the coolant path was melted away. The oil was just trickling down the side of the motor from the OFH.

I checked the coolant last night just to make sure it wasn't contaminated with oil. Looked clean but will double check before and after I do the gaskets tonight

Confirmed again this morning that shop used new gaskets during install. So either gasket was faulty, they didn't clean surfaces properly before install, or torque everything down.

thats probably what it is. Keep an eye on the first 10k. Very closesly. I would personally check oil level/coolant and open hood daily/weekly.

So neither of the gaskets in OFH were changed... Not exactly what you expect to find after waiting 6 months and spending +7k for rebuild. One of the brackets on my power steering line was broken and zip-tied in place BEFORE I SHIPPED IT TO THEM. They decided to just jam it between sway bar and subframe(had to drop sway bar to get it out). Looks like they also neglected to clean up the chargepipe(completely caked with oil/grease) and intercooler had about half quart of oil sitting in it.

I can understand that the dirty CP and IC were possibly preexisting issues but why not point them out to me so I can either a) pay additional fee for you to clean or b) deal with them myself when I get car back???

THat is SCARY ! I would be consumed by anxiety thinking what type of work did they do internally. Where did you do this work if you dont mind telling us ?

Shop owner has been working with me to make things right and has fired the incompetent employee that worked on my car. He also assured me that someone else at the shop had assembled the motor so should not have any issues internally. After I fixed the issues above, the car has been running great and have already put around 2k miles on rebuild. To remedy the situation, shop owner has sent me a lightly used a/c compressor(mine just went out) and is going to help out on anything else that happens to go out in the future even if not related to rebuild.

Was it Ghassan? If yes then isn't engine rebuild as they only do used engine swaps.

I guess you only asked for an engine rebuild? Most shops will stick to doing just that.
The intercooler usually stays in the car so they probably were not aware of its condition.
As for the oil filter housing, surely they would have noticed the failed seals when they took the head off? That's just crap.
