E90 Spare Tire Kit
I came across this on the BMWCCA site and was wondering if anyone has used this kit?

Don't know about the Leather-Z one personally, heard it works but requires a spacer. There was a thread on Bimmerforums a couple of months ago where a poster discovered that the E60 retrofit spare kit works on the E9x series without a spacer. It is a 17" spare and he claimed it fit on perfectly. When I called the BMW parts dealer he used (Tischer BMW), the sales guy suggested that the E60 kit does work with the E9x, and there was enough of a spike in sales (around the time of the post), that the kit went on backorder. I ordered one and it should be in by the end of the week. I'll try to get it on next week and see whether it works properly. If so, it is a much cheaper option. The entire E60 kit (plus shipping?) was around $270 as opposed to the $305+ shipping for the Leather Z one.

YES the leather z one does need spacers. I have the real OEM BMW spare for E90/E92's if you are interested. Please PM me if you need some help.

i was the one that posted the thread about this over on bimmerfest. full details are in the E9x 3 series forum
this is the p/n for the E9x specific spare tire: 36110445045 unfortunately, its not available from US dealers. differences from the E60 spare: rim is an alloy 3.5X17 ET8 tire is 125/80/17 (24.87") versus E60 Steel rim 4.0X17 ET 18 tire is 135/80/17 (25.5") Stock E9x tires range from 24.9 to 25.3 i personally have the E60 spare in my car. had to use it one weekend when i was out of town and all the tire shops were closed. put close to 300 miles on the spare that weekend, no problems. it fits fine front and rear on my sedan.
