not sure anything is wrong with it but be safe and just change it to a K&n at least you will know the flow rate is on par with the injen if indeed it is a 100% copy.

Don't get me wrong having an "Injen" or "AFE" or w/e is cool cuz u can say u got it but in the end the intakes are the same just have a name behind it. Well You talked me into it, now that i have another check under my belt so i guess i'll give it a try. It honestly doesn't look half bad at all. It wouldn't be worth it if it didn't have a heat shield but I think that sells it for me. I'll keep ya'll posted too.

I have this filter and I am happy with it (we have a different intake setup in Europe). I’d stay away from vet filter, it’s MAF killer.

Every gasoline internal combustion engine needs air to function and the more air the engine gets the better it runs and more power it produces hence Turbos and superchargers (Forced induction). So having a better flowing intake is better for the car and will produce more power. Also the motors are different but every motor basically works the same. Other things that are the same between the VQ30 and N52 are 3 liters and 6 cylinders. However the VQ is a V6 while we have I6. Sorry man but your thinking is way off on this one.

whats wrong with that filter..I know its an el cheapo, but why would it hurt the MAF...would it be the flow rate thats a problem or the way they oil them...just curious?

the filter is extremely small, you won't be sucking enough of air as the stock intake, and you will lose HP

Chances are, it's made in the same chinese factory that makes the namebrand stuff you pay lots of money for.
+1!

And addressing the "cheap mods" comment: if you can buy the exact same thing without the big-shot name, why not do it? That's one of the reasons rich people are good at what they do. I know someone who bought the XO2 $349 intercooler off of eBay and the reviews were excellent. So I say go for it. Either way, someone has to take the fall for the rest of us

not an ebay intake exactly, but moving the maf distance wise form the throttle body is not a good idea and will cause driving issues, i know this form experience, so be careful from that sense

I understand. $400 for a pipe sounds a bit extreme.

Still, your engine cost a small fortune, and a good conical filter is going to cost you ~$100 bucks. I wouldn’t scrimp on that.

And, if you want a similar effect, you can mod your stock box - take out the carbon filter, and put some holes in the cold air side of the intake - you'll be getting the same air as most aftermarket models.

Either way, your basic difference is sound (and throttle response). Don't expect much HP.

Good luck!

its beyond me why people would even want to consider putting some cheap parts on their car. Especially on a BMW!!!! I mean, I guess I could see experimenting with crappy parts on a shitty old honda or something, but not a bimmer. Especially on something that is going to go under the hood. Why risk damaging your engine on some crappy $80 intake, when any other respectable, well reviewed intake goes for like $200 and up. If your gonna drive a nice car like a BMW, and want to do mods, don't skimp on parts. It will only end up costing you more money in the long run. Just my own personal opinion.

That being said, I love my Injen EIS Intake. Definitely adds a nice little boost to the car, as well as giving it a really aggressive growl, especially around 4000rpm. Id recommend that to anyone with a non turbo engine.
