Plus you have the transportation to Chicago issue. A truck has to be available with a full load. Consider asking your dealer to see if he can prioritize your car so that it is on the first truck.. Won't hurt to try. I would think that customer-sold cars have priority over dealer-stock cars. What does your dealer tell you about past timings from ship to Chicago ? I hope the best for you.

add me to the Patriot as well
Just found out that my 335i is on the Patriot. I'm taking delivery of my car in NC so I guess I'll have to wait till the boat docks in Charleston. Just happy that it's almost here.

My 335i
It's going to be Montego blue with beige leather and light poplar trim. It's an automatic with paddle shifters, sport, cold weather, and premium packages. The rest of the options are the nav. system, sat. radio, comfort access, rear sunshade, and ipod adaptor.

Ignorance is Bliss
Headless,
At least you are able to track the Patriot. Except for port location in Europe via ais.live and your posting a photo of the Franconia in Southampton, I have not been able to track my ship. So I'm chillin'. The Franconia is still due in Charleston on Sept 28--according to K-Line--so I've let go of it. I've got to wait a couple extra weeks anyway for PCD, so I'm a bit farther away from delivery than you. Time for another beer! (Part of my chillin' program) Rich |

You know what's sad? I'm already worried about parking it so it's safe... and I don't even have it yet But I haven't had any major probs with my current car getting dinged etc., it's just different cos this is my first major purchase - first car that I get myself

I have to admit, the closer we get to Sunday, the more anxious I get. I live in NJ and could actually get to the port if I was crazy enough to snap a photo of the Patriot. Let's all be realistic however. This is a car. It's a hunk of steel, 4 wheels, a seat, a steering wheel, etc, etc. I too share Ninjaneer's ability to spot a BMW from far away. I've been doing it or years. For some reason, only a BMW sticks out to me, everything else is just common. In the past few days I've been thinking to myself, "since you're about to spend $40k on a car, should anything else be considered?" and the answer is I couldn't find anything else that interests me in the least. To me, owning a BMW is a passion. I so hope the passion isn't fiction and I'll be equally as happy a year from now. Realistically however, it's just a car but I'm hopeful the great handling, all wheel drive, comfort access, bright focusing xenon headlights and great surround sound will exceed my expectations for the next 5-10 years as I own this car. So yes, this is painful, but also joyful. I can remember being in production, checking several times a day for an update, then being in transit on the train to the port, then expecting immediate gratification that the car was on the ship (which took 5 days), and now the visits to sailwv several times a day to see if the ship is any closer to my port. Anyway I wish you luck and happiness with your Bimmer...and I can't wait to get mine! |

According to that picture, evrybodies car is just south of my house. I would bet not more than 5-10 miles. If I went to the beach with a piar of binoculars I could probably see the ship.
