Coolant leak somewhere

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can give some ideas as to how I can find where my coolant is leaking from.....I've wiped everything clean and had the car running for 10 mins with a/c on and off and nothing ever comes out.....took a 45 mile drive to work and this happened

10 minutes might not be enough time for the engine to heat up enough to the point that coolant starts cycling. Did the fan kick on?

I say top it off with distilled water and try running the coolant bleed procedure to locate the source. There are plenty of how-to videos for this since it's a step during the waterpump replacement. I'm not sure if this will reveal the source, so if not your best option would be to run the car for 20 minutes, revving it up to 2-3k RPMs every once in a while to help heat it up.

Ok. The car was definitely warm and yes the fan was on. In fact the fan being on more often was what made me open the hood in the first place. I'll try the bleed part and see if I get anywhere.

Probably the pipe running across the engine bay over the fan. It's known to get very brittle and crack

When mine was leaking similar to this it was on the bottom side of the upper radiator hose.

Are you taking about the small pipe that clips on the top of the fan ?

Yeah, but I'm more or less just looking at the spray pattern. All in all those houses are pretty cheap to fix.

Small pipe running over the radiator. Replace it with a metal brake line. Won't have to worry about it ever again

This is either radiator itself or the vent hose that arhoads335i already mentioned (Part#: 17127565094)

Replace that hose and also replace the upper rad hose (Par #: 17127540127) that the vent hose connects into. Have the upper rad hose ready because the nipple can break off as it gets brittle over the years.

Don't forget you'll need a hose clamp where vent hose connects to upper rad hose and at the coolant tank, as it is crimped from the factory.

Also, update your car info under your user on the left so we know what year, chassis and model it is.

just a thought, pull out the fan, and look at the connection on the oil filter housing, the way the coolant is splashing it looks like it is spraying to the front of the car, then the fan is blowing it to the drivers side of the car, if the fan spins that way, i can not remember i could be wrong, but then go on ebay and buy this

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1pc-Water-H...72.m2749.l2649

good insurance for the coolant system

OP, pay attention to these posts. The spray pattern appears to be coming from the cross-over line and it's radiating outward due to wind and fan pushing it toward driver side.

I found the leak. hose that runs across the top of the radiator is split. New piece going in tomorrow

Figured. Same thing happened to me, and of course the upper radiator hose busted during install and I had to replace that too. Dumbass design, as usual.
