I don't use the foglights at all, since I have Xenons. Totally inferior light output compared to HID. If they were true HID, I'd use em. If you ever see an oncoming vehicle in the fog, you see the the HID's way before you see the fogs. Just my .02

Fogs aren't so people can see you, they're so you can see ahead without your headlights reflecting like crazy off the fog.

True, but you certainly wouldn't run your fogs without headlights would you? At that point the Xenons overpower the fogs. at least that is my experience with them.

+1 for Germany as well.....has to be less than 250 meters of visibility to use the fogs....which sucks cause i think the help light up the road in the rain at night.

Actually, running your fogs without your headlights affords you better illumination of the road by eliminating the reflection of the headlights off the fog back into your sightline. BMW has it right by allowing your fog lights to be independent of the headlights, where on my TL, the headlights have to be on for the fogs to work rendering the use of the fogs pointless.

I sometimes put the parking lights on so the angel eyes are on and turn on the fogs for extra illumination right around sunset.

I only use them with the headlights when the conditions require it. When it's cloudy out, I turn on the parking lights and foglights, so other people can se me better.

I like to put them on w/ my DRLs during the day, but I never have them on at night unless necessary--it drives me nuts that every single GM car comes with fogs that are poorly aimed and ALWAYS on!

I do it mostly as a safety feature so that other cars can see me on the road. I ride around 99% of the time with fogs on. I just treat them as DRL's.

The rear fogs have been a lifesaver on more than one occasion...

Or Dodge Neons that use them as DRL's in Canada. Or Pontiac Grand Prix and Cadillac CTS's that use them as turn signals. Don't you just love how American manufacturers have bastardized the use of fogs?

I leave my headlights in the "auto" setting. I turn on my fogs only in the fog. They don't work that great, but they help you see the lines on the road.

I sometimes turn the fogs on in the rain if my auto headlights don't come on. In VA, you must have your headlights on when it's raining enough to use the windshield wipers. The fog light button is an easy way to turn on my headlights without having to move the switch from the "auto" position (and then remember to move it back when I stop the car). Laziness.

Bro, honestly how long did it take you to think of all the possibilities.

By the way anyone have these:

http://www.hoen-usa.com/plus.htm

They are supposed to be pretty bright yet not too expensive.

hmmm....my experience is that when you turn the DRL on and the fogs, after a certain speed the headlights come on (this is at night of course). Safetly feature perhaps? For some reason, I can't just keep the DRLs and fogs only. The headlights have to join the party too. any suggestions?
