CIC updated with Apps!

I finally got up the courage to run the special script file that replaced all the certificates in the CIC in my 2010, and then of course ran into problems with FStool. What a piece of crap that software is.

Since I'm trying to sell the car, having no navigation and no voice recognition isn't a big selling point...

Well, I reached out to forum member Nickco43 who checked into what was up, fixed the FSC files (with a different version of the FStool that is less crappy), and got navigation, apps, and voice rec back working fully!

Just wanted to throw some thanks his way, and rep that if you're hesitant about running this in your car, you should reach out.

*He also has a few full CIC conversion kits for a good rate if anyone is still running an old CCC.*

Hope it's okay to rep like this here... I usually do all these DIY's myself, but not having a broken car to show potential buyers trumped figuring it out.
Maybe I'll

What is the app called that works for the CIC? Is it BMW Connected? I just put a CIC/combox in my teenagers car and this is probably safer to use than the i-phone screen. My kids use apple music so that may be an issue.

thanks

I installed the BMW Connected app, and then I installed Pandora and Spotify, which both work with the built in CIC "BMW Apps".

It is sometimes a bit clunky / slow compared to using the iphone screen, but I agree so much better than looking down at the phone all the time, or mounting the phone and squinting at the small screen when I should be looking at the road ahead.

I think BMW Apps only works on iphones, and it supports Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn, Napster, Audible, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, and Stitcher, according to the "more apps" menu.

I hope the new buyer will be happy with this setup, it took some time to get it right.
In my 2007, once I get it back on the road, I'm putting in a 2017 NBT Evo with full carplay

Yeah, we used FStool. There are two versions of it, and the version I had didn't work for half of the FSCs. He used 2.02.00.
