Hey guys, need some advice

A friend of ours has just purchased a property, it needs doing up before they can move in, they have purchased expensive kitchen units but there has been some issues with the builder which means they won't be fitted for a couple of months, he is a bit worried about these units lying around in am unoccupied property, can he get a short term insurance to cover the kitchen units? if he gets home insurance is that covered under contents?

Any help would be much appreciated, cheers

He should have buildings insurance regardless. Contents insurance is optional but advisable if he's leaving things in the property.

If it's unoccupied for any length of time then that should be declared, maybe look into second home insurance that deals with unoccupied properties. Most stipulate that the property can't be empty for more than 30 days at a time, so effectively as long as he visits his house once a month he should be ok.
