CF BBS CH
I picked up my car from the dealer last tuesday after having the RE SSK installed and software update.. and here's what I see right outside the service area.. a carbon fiber BBS CH on a CSL.

Wait so the entire wheel construction is CF? I love the CSL silver/grey paint

F1 is still using 1 piece forged magnesium rims. If those are actually made out of all CF they would likely cost about 20k a piece. My guess though, is that it's just a coating over the top of the aluminum wheel.
Edit: Just grabbed this off the F1 site. Part of the FIA regulations in Article 12. "12.3 Wheel material: All wheels must be made from an homogeneous metallic material." I'd love to see someone really take the time and money to properly design a CF wheel. I think it has great possiblities.

Hmmm... the thing that scares me, CF shatters. It does not bend, it does not deform. When it breaks it shatters. Anybody ever bend a rim on a pothole? Granted, the CF wheels would be strong enough not to bend where a crappy cast aluminum wheel would ... but what if? I'd have to imagine a hit hard enough to shatter a CF wheel would cause a whole lot of other suspension damage also.
How pissed would be if you curbed one of those? |

I lived silver gray on the E46... I would have considered it if it were an option on the E90... While I love the BBS CH's rims (by far my favorite), Im not a fan of the CF rims... Is it just me or does it just look like the spokes are done in CF? is that an overlay trim? I didnt think BBS makes CF rims... |
