E91 1 key stopped working

Hi guys.

I have had a work van for the last few weeks so car inly used on weekends. My itber half used my main key to take the child seat out 2 days ago with no issues. However i have come to unlock the car tonight and the unlock/lock does not work from the remote! Starts the car fine. My spare key that had not been used for a few months works perfect on locking and unlocking as well as starting.

Any reason 1 key would just stop? Tried searching but maybe looking wrong. Module must be ok as spare works fine.

Is there a re sync process?

All help appreciated.

Thank you

Could be a battery inside the key. Although the e91 has a very common problem with the antenna / transponder behind the rear tailgate. If you google it failure can result in unexpected behaviour as you are experiencing.

most likely a dead battery. if it's a comfort access key, the battery is easily replaced. the standard key's battery is soldered to it's circuit board. there are ways to replace it. you could diy, there are videos online. or send it off to be replaced professionally. or if you're rich, a new non CA key is $350 at the dealer.

it's not hard. slice open the key with a box cutter, desolder the old battery off the chip, solder that new one on, close the key back up. there are videos online showing you how.
