Does anyone have a lower mileage e90?

Hey everyone, I bought a bare bones 328i 6mt rwd this summer out of state from a Mercedes dealer and had it shipped to me. Those are so hard to find in Nebraska! We had a hard time negotiating the price since there weren't many like it nationally that we could compare it to. NADA was around $6,500 and they were asking $13,000 IIRC. I think the only option that it came with is bluetooth, which I am ok with. It should age well without tech features and with vinyl manual seats. I am hoping to keep it as a second car for a very long time. My DD is a Grand Cherokee and it has so many features, screens, and driving tech that I enjoy getting in my analog car.

The car is a 2009 and only had 22,000 miles on it. It has been maintained well. I need to look into maintenance in terms of time and not miles looking forward. Any advice on that would be appreciated as far as fluid replacement needs.

The color is light grey. I want to do just a few mods and powder coat the wheels black and change the kidneys to black. I love looking at clean stock e30s, so that gives me pause making cosmetic changes. I am not sure how well those will age.

I still have a very annoying suspension squeak that an indy misdiagnosed and we replaced the wrong parts. If we ever get to the root of that, I would be on cloud 9!

Does anybody have an e90 that comes close to that low in mileage?

Bought mine at 125k miles

What's the squeak problem? Which parts were replaced?

Mine's 55k and 2007. I think you are correct to look at things from a time perspective. imho low mileage is not an advantage as the sellers try to use it. You see this all the time with the Lexus LS, people will say, here's one with only 44k! (2006) Well what difference does it make when it's well documented the car does 300k likely with little issue. Do you have enough time to drive the car that many miles? If not, why pay for it? Meaning in this case, one that has 120k is actually not bad, can you drive it 180k even? It's already 14 years old going on 15. Time is the enemy not miles.

The indy diagnosed the squeak as control arms, so we replace the 4 fronts and all of the sway bar bushings. Nothing changed.

I am a busy car ex-guy with 2 young kids now and a business to run. I have sold my prior fun cars a few years ago and wanted to get something to keep around for a long time and have fun with them in. I was debating if I wanted a muscle car like a Camaro convertible or a Challenger, but I realized I am a euro guy and not a muscle car guy...

I wanted to find "the car" that I would keep in my third garage stall and have a lot of memories with my kids. I don't care about keeping the miles low, as I have already put close to 4,000 on it. It will take me a very long time to get it to 100k though. I won't drive it in the winter, so probably 4-5k a year will be it.

I know with cars that are driving themselves, and electric and hybrid cars becoming more popular, I wanted to have something that my kids might bond with to see if they become interested. A lot of 16 year olds don't even want to get a license right now, and I would guess in 10-15 years that is even going to be more the norm.

We have to pass on our automobile masochism on to the next generation!

That's priceless! It's great to see the younger generation (who are our future) enjoying fine automobiles! My son is only 5 so he doesn't seem to understand, BMW > the other cars we have lol

I've had my car since new in 2006. It has a few more miles on it than your car. My advice is don't over maintain it. The E90 takes a long time to get broken in. You have to stop being BMW OCD and let little shit go like annoying suspension noises. Buy a BMW scan tool, it will be your best friend. The E90 N52 is a tank, and does not need as much maintenance as posts on E90 Post will lead you to believe.

I bought my 1 owner 2008 E92 335Xi 10 months ago with only 18K miles. Lucky for me, the original battery died just before the purchase and the seller had the BMW dealer install a new one.

Currently at 22K and I'll be storing it for the winter this week with my convertible. When I bought it last February, I had my indy do a brake flush and a coolant flush. The tires were the original RFT's with 2008 date codes on Style 185 17" wheels, so I replaced them with 4 conventional Michelin PS 4S and mounted them on style 220 19" M3 wheels (huge improvement in the ride comfort + the great look)

I've had no other issues whatsoever

Other than that, I've done:

an oil change
bought a plug and play Tunai Bluetooth Adapter (works great)
changed all the interior lights to LED's
deleted the console smoking option and replaced it with the much cleaner looking glasses tray
installed Sport Seats

At this point couldn't be happier. I might keep this for a looooonnnnnng time.

If you’re not going to use it much keep it on a battery tender. That’s pretty much all you’ll need to do other than enjoy it /-)

My storage isn't heated or powered. I've always pulled the battery from the ZHP and stored it in my basement for the winter. I then just throw it on the charger in the spring and re-install it. Never had an issue

Plan to do the same for the E92

this.

got mine @160k miles.

BMW dealer don't want to give me the maintenance historic, since it wasn't serviced at that dealer. I need to drive few miles to the dealer where the car was services. last log was at 145k miles, so the original owner always went to BMW. Good news.

Call them to see if they can give me the info, and NO , I need to bring the car or car papers for proving im the actual owner.

I understand all the ''information protection'' but damn BMW, I need to know what's been done on the car.

-I want to know if I need a freaking new water pump soon.
-If the alignment was done .
-Coolant, etc.

all stuff that I dont have time to do that can help me.

So far so good, the CCC indicate all liquid are new, and no check light.

That sounds like a great pickup. What have you had to replace due to age so far?

A 335i e92 6mt probably would have been my first pick to buy, but the kids couldn't get out of the back quick enough in the line at school in a 2 door. I wasn't quite brave enough to be willing to make a bet on how the n54 vs n52 would hold up differently over a long period of time. I love the look of yours!

Uhh, you can. I fix that shit. Its one of the reasons nobody believes I have an 11 year old, 130k mile car. My shit doesnt bounce, squeak, rattle, whatever. I get a random squeak going over a bump or something from the doors but if its something loud or part of the drive-train/suspension its getting investigated.

Well, my 13 year old E90 is at 383,600 miles. I've owned BMWs for 30 years with a total combined driven miles of over 900,000. So I'd say I'm qualified to give such advice as don't over maintain the car when it doesn't need it and don't get paranoid over every little creak, rattle, or squeak. I'd bet my any 4 of my current BMWs at 100,100 miles, 103,700 miles, 189,989 miles (22-year old Z3), and my 2006 E90 are in as good shape as or better than your 130,000-mile shit.

I think I hit 130,000 in my E90 sometime in 2010 IIEC. In fact it was on 12/15/2010.

And Ive had them for 19 now. Including an E30 going to 242k before I sold it to a friend (who is still running it) after club racing it for 4 years. As for the last part, go fuck yourself maybe? Id bet probably not, my door handles arent even sticky because I chose to resolve it properly.

You can have a rattly piece of shit if you want. I even conceded that youre not going to get every glove box, window or rear seat squeak over a bump. But a suspension/engine noise is something I look into.

Well, you know I did coat the tabs with antisieze on the bracket that holds the engine electrical junction box to the lower part of the intake manifold JUST in case in need to remove it again at some point in the future...

My 06 330xi was purchased with 69k miles.
Only repairs needed in past 6 months were starter and BST.

I like to change the oil every 3 months so I can get a loaner to remind me how much I love my E90.

No weird noises. It drives and looks new except for some of the shit rubberized surfaces. Nobody believes the car is 14 years old.
