Tires for 18X9.5 Apex ARC-8 E90
Good Day everyone.
I just purchased Apex ARC-8 rims 18/8.5 et 38 and 18/9.5 et 35. Im driving a 2006 330xi e90 on H&R coils. Wondering what everyone thinks for tires on the rear? I want to run a 245/40/18 on the front They recommend a 265/35/18 for the rear but has anyone installed 275/35/18? My rear fenders are rolled a little and I have some natural camber from being lowered. Will 275 rub on the rear? Worth getting a wider tire? Anyone got pictures? Congrats on the wheels! We typically recommend 235/40-18 front and 265/35-18 rear for those wheel sizes. With xDrive, it's also important to keep the front and rear rolling diameter difference as close to 0% as possible. The above setup is 0.4% different, which is within the 1% threshold.
The 245/40 and 275/35 setup you're proposing is 0.5% different, so you're good to go with those sizes as well, but you'll likely need rolled rear fenders to prevent rubbing. You may also experience slight rubbing on the front fender liners during full-lock turns if the car is super low due to the 245/40 being 8mm taller than the 235/40. Here are some reference photos: Front: 18x8.5" ET35 with 235/40-18 tires Rear: 18x9.5" ET35 with 265/35-18 tires We don't have photos showing the 245/40 setup in the front, but here's how a 275 looks on a 9.5" ET35 wheel on the rear (in 17"): --Dylan

I've run as big as 255/40/18 Front (5mm spacers) and 265/35/18 Rear on the MSport suspension but once I lowered it I had to go 235/40/18 in the front to clear the fender and I still get slight rubbing on certain driveways and U shaped dips on the freeway

Just look at how long he's been here, he seems to be part of the Fast and Furious crowd. He has an older E90 that's lowered, fenders rolled and thinks he knows better than BMW's engineers and those of us that have been here longer. I must be getting older also!
BTW, I'm running 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 on my E92 with stock suspension without an issue and it looks good.

There's nothing wrong with more grip from wider fronts and rears, there are trade-offs to be made though, like worse road manners, fuel economy, etc. Engineering is about trade-offs.
