Best place ti get new fender liners and belly pan?

Hey everyone. I am working though fixing all of the issues with my 2007 335i coupe. Got a great deal, but finding soooo many things wrong and missing over time. I really need new fender liners and a belly pan. The fender liners are nearly destroyed, and the belly pan is missing.

Is there a preferred place to get an ok deal for a not terrible product? I would love to buy OEM, but thats just so damn expensive. Found a few off brands but with no feedback on q its a crapshoot.

Best to get from junk yard or ebay for parts like that.

Look for cars being parted out in your area. Offer up, Craigslist, Facebook marketplace. And you can haggle with the guy or get a package deal.

No idea what the quality and fitment of an aftermarket piece would be

I bought this fender liner from carparts.com, it was cheap so I took a chance. It was a disappointment, I ended up fixing my cracked original with flextape just like the guy who saws his boat in half (it actually works pretty well). It fit OK but much flimsier construction, it will do if you're severely on a budget but used originals would be better.

How did you fix it with the tape? Like you just patched the crack? Wow never thought I'd say this but i might use one of flex seal products lol. My rear fenders have holes because of rubbing and they're 300$ a piece.

Yes, the front corner that protrudes off the front and connects to the front clip cracked, it's a place you really can't see and it's not structural except one engine belly pan screw so I just taped it back together. If you wipe the plastic with brake cleaner first that tape has a ferocious grip, you literally can't pull it back off so it's good to aim well when you drop it.

This just gave me the idea of trying that with the inside of my bumper that's ripped like this in both sides. Although I think something like fiberglass would hold better

Wow ok I guess I'll get some while scouring for a used one. Seems solid, can layer it up for my fenders so the rocks don't poke it out eventually.

The tape would be a lot better than nothing, it's strong enough but for that kind of seam it might not be rigid enough. It's very tough sheet of plastic, but still very flexible. For that crack where you don't want it to move a glass patch makes more sense, if you actually do it. You could wipe that down and tape it up in 10 minutes.

It turns out the flextape is one of the most accurate ads on TV, go figger. If you put a layer on each side it will be tougher than all the surrounding areas of the part just be sure to hit it with brake cleaner first. MEK type PVC pipe cleaner would probably work even better, but even with the brake cleaner it will never peel off.

There was a thread on here just last week where someone was looking for these shields (fender liners, belly pan, etc.). Rock Auto came up as did Carparts.com. Seems that they're all the same aftermarket variety...so probably thin and flimsy, but it's said that the fitment is ok. I'm tempted to spring for at least the right front fender (front part) fender liner as mine is simply missing a huge chunk (gone. road debris.).

I've tried to find these at junk yards, but often they're missing or simply chopped in half (so I've seen with fender liners) when other more valuable parts are removed. Good idea about finding them from someone parting out a car from home...but it's going to be hit and miss so far as finding such a situation and finding the liners you need in decent shape. All of which I think is why the OEM ones are so expensive.

Lastly, take note that online places often have very different and disparate shipping rates on parts like these. For example, I priced the belly pan at both Rock Auto and Carparts and while it was a few (literally, like 3) bucks more at Carparts, the shipping from Rock Auto as about 3 times the cost of the part...while it was a much more reasonable amount at Carparts. So, shop carefully.

Meanwhile, I'm going to go get some Flextape

Junkyards are for sure a complete miss, cars there are usually straight up junked ripped bumper scratched everywhere stuff so to find a nice underbody cover is like finding a needle in a haystack. I was looking for an underbody cover the one under the driver side for E92 runs from the front of the belly pan to the rear of the car and since the junkyard puts cars on top of steel wheels like these, right on top of that panel, you can't get it either. Also in my yards they drop the subframe for cats and rip the liners while doing it

You aren't wrong there...I have not had good luck pulling parts at all. Maybe for junkyard ls motors, but nothing for BMW stuff. There is only 1 at my local yard, and it looks like the parts I would want are gone as is.

That being said, can't seem to find a belly pan anywhere. ECS is the only place i found that has the part number, period.

just ordered the (likely) garbage quality belly pan and fender liner from amazon. I couldn't believe the shipping from ECS on the belly pan...$295.....

Same here for part outs and junkyards, never was able to find a part for my LCI E92.

The only thing that worked for me is ebay for used parts like a window switch for example or my idrive controller, but big parts like fenders or belly pans those I loose all the benefits of buying used when shipping costs are high.

www.car-part.com

For stuff like belly pans and interior parts your best finding a u-pull-it and crossing your fingers. Although you might be surprised by car-part. I've had a lot of luck using that website to find whole cars, then calling up on the phone with special requests.

Interchangeable body and mechanical parts are plentiful. There are so many e9x in junk yards these days it's a little nauseating. Many looked like they were driven in.

The rock auto Taiwan sourced fender liners and belly pans I've gotten have been quite good. Sturdy multi-layer laminate with bolt holes that lined up and fit into place.

They are not perfect BMW replicas. Try to be pragmatic regarding the purely functional parts going on decade(s) old cars.

I'd be down a non BMW part that fit ok, but I can't find one for rear E92 fenders.

The rock auto taiwan stuff isn't usuallybin stock. It's also not usually listed by make and model.

I used realoem to make a list of part numbers then would periodically search RA or Google by p\n. Took a few months to get all the pieces I wanted. Most of them were $20 or $25 each with shipping once they finally popped up as available.

Rear fender liners might not be available as knock-offs. Insufficient demand as they don't get broken nearly as often as fronts and belly pans and radiator shrouds do.
