102 in a 65 on I88 Near Rockford

my friend got a ticket in his crown victoria going 110 in a 45, he hired a lawyer which cost him around 2 grand but all he had to do is do community service and pay a hefty fine, i think he is on a 6 month supervision.

Well....I wasn't sure how bad the turnout was gonna be. Some guys on the thread were like get a lawyer your in trouble and a couple said don't sweat it. Wife was freaking out. This Lawyer sucked. It was a small town and he knew the DA. he never called or anything. He knew it was no big deal but made it sound like he worked for it.

It was a class A misdemeanor. In Illinois, it is in the same class as a DUI. Anyone who says he overpaid needs to call around and see what their lawyer "buddies" charge for that. OP, you got off pretty good. Who cares if he didn't call, your wife could have gone to jail for up to 180 days if the judge was having a bad day.

Those of you who haven't gotten tickets since 2011 need to read up on the changes in speed laws(if you can't read legal, have your attorney buddy translate) since then. Illinois doesn't just collect a little bit of revenue and send you on your way with supervision as easily anymore. Anything 30+ over is no longer just a petty offense.

This...just because it doesnt appear anything, he did. He did it long before he met you by trying this same case over and over in front of this same judge and because of that history you got off.

Theres Always cops on I88 in sterling. i drive passed there all the time and they sit right on mile markers 36-41 on i88

I got one in the same spot driving to WIU my freshman year there, I was going 110, stopped and cop said he got me at 87 in a 65. It caused my license to get suspended because it was my 2nd ticket that year. My partent's called the DA out there and spoke to him about it and I just went in to court, pleaded guilty, paid the fine and was given supervision. The towns out there would rather have the $ than fuck you over.
