Looks very nice. I'm getting more and more convinced to go for it as well.

OK Just got a quote from Jim For $495 for the Johnson Ceramic InsulatR @ 30%.

Any thoughts? Ceramic worth the extra bones?

Don't you already have your windows tinted?

I was quoted $465 from the Huper Optik dealer that is "local." Local in this case being Longview! A little far to drive for tinting, especially if there are issues, in my opinion.

Here is how I understand tinting issues. With CA, cell phones and the host of other electronic devices these days, metalized tint should be avoided. However, non-metalized dyed tint doesn't provide nearly as much heat rejection as metalized tint does. So, your basic tint job will reduce the ability of people to see in, cut down some glare and keep some heat out, but not as much. The ceramic tint however offers much higher heat rejection, while not interfering with electronics.

Johnson's website shows the IR rejection of the ceramic tint to be anywhere from 47% to 85%. In comparison, their Greystone line of non-metalized tint only rejects from 35% to 42%. In other words, your car will heat up much slower in the summer time with the ceramic tint.

A $200 premium seems to be fairly steep though. I've been waiting for my schedule to clear up enough to get my car tinted by Jim. Now I have to consider this same question, regular or ceramic.

No No, I wussed out cause.... I'm a Wuss.

Yeah I started to get it done once, then chickened out... Then began a quest for Johnson ceramic Tint...

I was all over Midnight tint but no Johnson ceramic...

So, I am at Bellevue now, Very highly rated, good looking outfit, experiance with E92s and the Tint I was wanting...

Though Yeah, $495 seems a bit stiff, but inline with what was quoted to others.

Hmmm, I guess I can save $200 and just do the Greystone, but I wanted the Ceramic... But not for any real reason other than it's "Supposed" to be the good stuff.

Let us know how it works out (with pictures). Sure, $500 is quite a bit of money, but nothing but the best for my baby, I guess. And with CA I would need something non-metallic anyway.

I just had my e92 coupe tinted by Accutint (via Park Place), and they did a decent job. It could take a few weeks for the film to completely dry so I'll be a better judge then.

I got 35% on the 4 side windows, and 15% on the back. It's a great combination for me on a JB car. Total = $250.

Looks like I will be calling Jim and making an Appt. Will be getting the Johnsons Insulator at 30%... Should work and look fantastic.

My biggest concern with tinting is CA performance, and quality of work... It has to be perfect.

I was originally going to go with Franks here in Lynnwood, but he was really recommending the Silhouette film and it's a metalized film. With CA it wasn't a risk I was willing to take. Nothing more irritating then spending money on a car to make it work LESS well than it did before. The owner operator at Frank's was very cool, but I just couldn't get around the potential for CA to be less efficient.

Besides the Insulator film is what I've been wanting so.... Yeah. Look like I'll be paying a premium.

Just a follow up, Couldn't be happier with Bellvue Auto Tint and the Johnson's Insulator Film. Works and looks great.

Talk to Rudy at Mr Tint and Sun, he does an awesome job. I've taken 6 cars to him and all were perfect.
