Great stuff! My E90 335i is on HL. I live in CO but will be picking it up from a dealer in LA (who expects to have it on the 20th) and driving it back later this month.

Good question... I don't know? Does anyone else know if it would be dropped in San Diego? (My dealer is BMW Encinitas).

Also, Would now be a good time to call and book an appointment for an idrive update? So I can pick it up and have no problems?

It's gonna go to Port Hueneme and back to SD. The VPC is in Oxnard.

I would think the VPC or the dealer would do the iDrive update long before you get the car.

A little confused...

I too am on the Hudson Leader. My 335i was built in the first weeks of Jan has there been an iDrive update since that point? I was not aware of one.

Going waiting

The HL is still in the port of San Diego tonight. She should start moving towards PH soon. I think she was due to pull out at 5 pm.

Great tracking site Pat! I wish I would have used that.

By the way, the Hudson Leader docked at 0835 this morning in Port Hueneme. There was heavy fog in the area which delayed her a bit. She will offload all day and leave this evening.

I hope the VPC is ready for the onslaught, she was fully loaded!

The BMW Vehicle Preparation Center (or VPC, also known as the VDC or Vehicle Distribution Center) is where the cars go once unloaded from the shipping vessel. It is about a mile inland from the Port Hueneme dock. The cars are cleaned, inspected, and any local options (ipod, M Aero, CD Changers, etc) are installed. Any shipping damage is repaired (they can fix anything from a scratch to having a car dropped on its roof) and then the car is trucked to your dealer.

If you ordered Priority 1 (customer sold), it usually tears through the VPC in a day or two.

I had my 335i in my hands 2 days after the ship berthed in Hueneme. That included trucking time to Phoenix.

Did you order it ED or straight from the dealer... Because Priority 1 is only sold straight from the dealer not ED right...?

My car was a straight dealer order so it was P1. Quicker delivery.

ED is not classified as Priority 1 since it technically is delivered in Germany.

Right, that's why your car will be delivered quicker...

I got "the call"

Got the call from my SA yesterday. As of yesterday @ 3:00PM the car was on a truck headed for Silicon Valley.

He said to expect to take delivery today or at the latest tomorrow. (Goodbye 10 year old Honda Accord)

It was a little over a month and a half for me. It was PAINFUL but not as bad as others and it is almost over.

Ordered 12/31/07 --> Delivered 2/15/08 (est)

I will post pics when I have them.

OK, this is weird and annoying...

Since yesterday, the Owners Circle site says my car is at the prep center but I just called the 800 number and was informed "your car is at the port waiting for a vessel".

They better not be sending my vert back to Europe.

Anyone else experience this?

Guess I better contact my SA.

That doesn't sound right, call the dealership. Should be on a truck in the next day or so.
