Exhaust for Pre LCI e90
Hi Guys,
Thinking about getting http://store.activeautowerke.com/act...-n52-p216.aspx into my 328i pre lci e90. As far as I understand muffler will need to be removed is it right? Will I be able to pass SMOG in Cali? Any cons regarding this mod? Would you recommend going with something else then this product ? Last edited by anogmus; 05-22-2014 at 06:32 PM.. |

that's a muffler so yes you will need to remove your stock muffler and put this in place of that
and yes you will pass smog still

Just purchased the PE last month and have been enjoying every single exhaust note. You will pass smog.

Yep pretty much. Should just slip on no problem. Its a good mod for the money. Trust me, you WILL NOT get tired of the gargling, and throaty tones.

AA is a nice sounding exhaust and a lot cheaper than PE. Only con would be that it's only an axleback, not a full catback. So your performance gains won't be as good. But if you are more interested in the sound, then go for it.
PE sounds really good too and is full catback. But some of the bends don't look so smooth so I'm not sure if it's fully mandrel bent. But like I said, if you are more interested in sound, then cat or axle back, mandrel or crush bent is not important. Magnaflow, Borla, AFE and Dinan are fully mandrel bent catback systems. I have not heard what Dinan sounds like but I don't think the other three sound as good as AA or PE. I have a magnaflow myself and it's not that loud. But the air flow looks better with these systems. They have smoother bends and a muffler that runs parallel to the direction your are moving. BMW PE muffler bends to driver side then back out to the rear. Do these bends really make a difference in performance? Probably nothing you can feel but meh I wanted the smoother bends anyway
