MAD or BMS race intercoolers, they both use high density cores 17/18 fins per inch and are priced very reasonably

And what size are they. I’m new to this so trying to learn as I go. I’ve been reading a lot about vrsf and I see they have a 5 stepped one would that be enough or do I have to go bigger

You need a 6.5"+ for the power you are making BMS and MAD race intercoolers are 7.5"

intercoolers over 5" will require cutting, if you want to avoid cutting, you can get a 5" just make sure its a high-density core (over 14 fins per inch). that's why i recommend BMS or MAD (17-18 fins per inch)

For the best performance on stage 2 or higher, you need a 7"+ intercooler. If you are on a budget, do not want to cut, live in cold weather, or don't push the car much, a 5" intercooler will do the job as long as you get a high-density core. the 7"+ intercooler will still be the better option performance wise, but you can get away with a high quality 5"

Anyone running Hybrid turbos should look at 7 inch ones though. |

That said I'm curious about the "performance wise" that you mention as I always want the best performance of course. But what does "for the best performance" mean in this context in the end result? More horsepower, more torque, more smoothness, less timing corrections for the car? All 4? Only 2? Or is this strictly in reference to the intercooler performance you mean so basically heat soaking and being able to go longer and push and push? |

I dont want to be a bad seed but higher boost does not necessarily mean higher outlet temps... it depends more on the whp goal in the end... but yeah, not many people run 300ish whps on hybrids (where you could actually see higher boost and lower temps in comparison to maxed out stocks units).

But if IAT gets too high, the DME will reduce timing. This results in a loss of horsepower and torque. The more boost you are pushing, the hotter the ambient temp is, the more aggressively you drive, the more this will happen with a smaller intercooler. that's why I said earlier, it depends on which stage you are running, the area temp where you live, and how much you push the car
