09, 10 and 11 335D...any difference?

So I originally wanted to get an 2011 335D since itd be the newest and I could find more of them with lower miles than the older years for the most part (obviously), but I recently came across a 09 with very low miles and very good price, I was wondering if there was any difference besides the sound system from what I read on another thread....mainly performance, transmission, engine components...can I get the same tunes and aftermarket parts for an 09 like I can on the 11 and 10 and vise versa?

Thanks!

All years are the same, assuming that the emissions recall (in 2011/2012) was done on the car.

Fairly certain only the 2011s have the updated paddle shifters where a pull on the right paddle is up a gear and a pull on the left paddle is down a gear.

The other years have different style paddles where a pull on either side is up and a push on either side is down.

MY 2010 base radio is different than 2009 and 2011. It was a cost cutting and speakers and sound quality is poor.

There was some cost cutting deletions after 2009. What's the price on the 2009? Anything over 15K is too much.

There are some differences (as some other posters have noted) and even build date within a model year can have some slight differences (TPMS, sound system, nav system software, emissions hardware pre and post recall, etc).

Regardless of the year you purchase, you are getting essentially the same car - same engine, same 6-speed transmission, same basic suspension. You just need to ensure that the recall work has been done on the 2009 or early 2010 car.

FWIIW, this is my understanding.

Good luck on your purchase.

Aux water pump deleted after my 2009

Base "stereo" became default option between 3/10 and 9/2011 (2011.5) production

Combox added with 2011.5

The 2009 had a different transmission, very similar but different. They had a 6hp26z newer ones got the 6hp28. I heard of a few failures of the older one.

Garage List
The "LCI" which was a body upgrade happened in those years so lighting changes to LED usage was one of those changes. I am not sure all the changes but you may be able to search the forum for information

Aux water pump and 6hp26 vs 6hp28 transmissions were the biggest changes. Some minor items got deleted, such as the trunk keyhole and cargo hooks in the trunk. Not too sure if it was the pre-LCI to LCI changes or 2009 to later changes. I know my E92 pre-LCi also has a passenger side keyhole.
