I followed the instructions closely, put the car in sleep mode etc. I do not think i have a defective unit cause the car has very good power and torque with it.
The code it throws all the time is P1221:Pedal Position Sensor 2 Range/Performance Problem. I think it has something to do with the car being a steptronic |

Now please answer the rest of my questions...what gas are you using? Are there any other mods to your car? Have you bypassed the boost solenoids? Under what conditions do you get the limp mode (like engine temp, RPM and throttle position)?
Try this...disconnect your battery for an hour. Then reconnect and go for a drive. Let me know if that changes anything.

Other mod is the K&N air filter which is installed recently.I have not bypassed the boost solenoids should i give it a try? The limp mode usually happens during warmups and at low RPMs. Do you think its a software glitch i'll disconnect the battery as soos as i find the time. |

i have a steptronic 335i with K&N and SSTT for almost 10k miles. i probably took it out 3 times for dealer visits and never had a single issue.
take the SSTT out, drive around stock for a day. try to see if u can make the limp mode re-occur. when u re-install the SSTT, disconnect the battery wait 20-30 min, then install the SSTT. after re-connect the battery. give that a try. good luck |

I purchased a driftbox (GPS based device) a while back to time my Supra 60-130.......after reading your post, I remembered that I should stick it in the 335i and see what she does 0-60, 1/4 mile and 60-130. Once I do this, I will post data/results.

According to this thread http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ighlight=P1221 the error code P1221 is a DSC failure. I am wondering if your car's computer is the same as a US ECU. Can anybody chime in on that? What is your production date? Do NOT bypass the boost solenoids. That is a mistake with the SSTT!!! I would definitely try disconnecting the battery for a while. It won't hurt anything and may help.

However I can't find a plausible explanation for your situation that is related to the SSTT. From what I can tell the SSTT only modifies 2 signals: IAT (Intake Air Temperature) and TMAP (manifold pressure). It is inconceivable to me that changing those two signals, all within stock parameters by the way, would cause an error in voltage with the throttle position sensor. It sounds to me like you have a problem with your car that is not related to the SSTT. So now it is time to search elsewhere for the solution. When you install the SSTT, do you remove/disconnect anything else (either on purpose or by accident)? Is the K&N filter the drop-in panel or did you remove the stock air box? When you take the car into the dealership, do you tell them about the SSTT? How do they explain the error code? I also recommend at some point checking the part number on your ECU. Apparently in Europe there is an ECU with a different part number than the US versions (according to realoem.com). That may be the issue! You really should double check that!!

No, my car was completely stock at the time except for the SSTT. No solenoid bypass either... It occurred after doing a few back-to-back runs with Driver72 in his PROcede v1.2 sedan. There was a video made of it...

Thanks Jon, I received my unit this afternoon and have already installed it... Broke the damn clip with a friggin' dime though.
I followed the directions which are posted on DIY and it helped a ton! I f*cked up my arms trying to get in there and broke the clip but besides that a fairly easy first install.. Took it for a test ride a couple of hours ago and low and behold... a friggin warning light came on!! ARRRGGHHH I almost crapped myself until I realized it was only a low washer fluid light :P I'm impressed... No, I'm beyond impressed!!! SSTT is TOTALLY the way to go when you have a leased vehicle. Coupled with a BMC filter I am a happy 335i owner right now! Split Second / Eurobahn, outstanding work!!! |

Biostockman - Sorry to hear that the clip broke but glad you're enjoying your SSTT.
My advice to everyone that plans on using the dime to not force it up too much. You just want to wedge it in enough so that the clip is unlock then pull down on the harness to disconnect it from the TMAP sensor. |

Just installed mine from Jon today. The guitar pick came with the unit is not really helpful, just use a small mini screw driver to push the clip up a little and un-plug the socket. It took me like 2 minutes to do the installation.
I took it out for a spin but could not really tell the 50 HP gain immediately. So my question is how long does it take for the ECU to adapt to the new SSTT?

Actually, I noticed it today. My car had been cold since Sunday so I followed the direction of just opening the hood and locking the doors. Waited for the slow ass UPS guy for about 4 hours, installed it, left my driveway an hour later. I noticed it as soon as I got onto the highway. Perhaps the ECU became better acquainted with it since it the cold for so long?
