Probably rubbish... I though the most powerful 3L twin turbo diesel was 306 HP in the X5?

That would be interesting bt for the price it is better to get the lower power 335d and have it remapped like lots on here?

Nooo, the 5 series F10 has a 258bhp 530d and a 313bhp 535d. The 535d is faster than the 535i, 0-60 . That will be a nice engine in the F30/F31 etc, if it happens.

I'm sure the 530d and 535d had lower bhp engines when the F10 came out (245bhp and 306bhp IIRC). But after 6 months or so they up'd them to 258bhp and 313bhp. Not a massive increase but I think you'd be pissed if you bought the eariler one.

had a short blast in a demo X3 35d SE with the 313bhp motor.
what a hoot, grunt every and pulled hard north of 5k. Even sounded OK for derv burner............ Check out autocar with the triple turbo M550d, 3 blowers and loads of fun no doubt. Wonder if BMW have tuned the engine note via car stereo a la new M5........ |

Apparently the have, but not to the same extent.
There's a thread about, found it through the bimmerpost app, where loads of Americans are laying down the hate for it already. "it's not an M", "I hate diesel", etc. I want the M550d Touring. 381hp and 44mpg combined?!?! That's better than my 330!!!

It is amazing how power continues to go up along with mpg. I guess it has to stop at some point. I wonder when we'll see the first fully electric 3 series?

Just read that we're not getting the M550d in the UK, only the X5/6 versions. Bah!
