Not off to a good start.

The ticking is from the hydraulic lifters. This is why oil changes are mentioned.

I have a 2006 330i sport 6-speed manual I bought back in 2007. It has 275K miles. I have replaced the waterpump (225K), valve cover and oil filter housing gaskets (190K) and AC compressor (260K) because the pulley clutch locked up and required the whole unit to be replaced.

Other than that, I have changed the oil every 15K miles with bmw oil and filters, brakes and tires. Shocks and struts were replaced at 200K.

I have had nearly no issues with this car, get 28 mpg combined, mainly highway in the DC area where you are pretty much on the autobahn fighting for you life.

What's been you favorite tire to use? I have 2 cars and find myself driving my 330i less because it chews through the rears (15-20k miles). I had the alignment shop set the camber as neutral as possible with the stock cams (-1.5) with very slight toe-in. I just threw on PS4S Michelin's, but have only put about ~1k on them so too early to tell how they wear.

Do any of those with high mileage here use Techron every once in a while to clean the fuel system?

My car runs quite well aside from slight hesitation accelerating from idle when the engine is warming up. When I replaced my starter last year I cleaned the throttle body and this improved the issue for a few months, but it has come back since. I don't think a bottle of techron would hurt things, right?

I have a road trip coming up and would run it on the return leg of the trip, then change the oil as soon as practically possible after that.

I've never used any fuel additive. Fuel cleaner wouldn't clean the intake manifold because the N52 is port injected. My car has burned over 14,250 gallons of fuel so far.

My E90 has 80,000 miles. After reading what others have, there’s a lot of life left in my E90. I take really good care of it. I stay on top of all maintenance required. I love my E90.

Mine just hit 140k miles. With enough mods on the car, it drives pretty hard and still idles and accelerates smoothly. Looking at some of the miles reported here, I feel like it's still got a lot of life left to go.

I've been having this idea of designing a kit to fit through the spark plug hole so I can walnut blast the combustion chamber, trying to get carbonation cleaned up on the piston face and the valve dome. I'm thinking to do this because on a Mini Cooper S I worked on, I had to do a head gasket job and during which I cleaned up all the carbon filming on the piston and the valves, making that chamber squeaky clean. The car then drives like a new car again it's amazing. I'm thinking one of days the chamber will need some cleaning to get closer to a new engine status.

I ran one Techron bottle with second fill-up before planned oil change. It does not hurt things, but likely does very little to help clean intake valves. The only reason I am still using it I because I bought a case at Costco few years back.

2005 E90 330i
255 000 km, bought it 2016 with 189 000, during my ownership:

Right after buy:
- fuel tank ventilation hose

200k:
- new sparkplugs, ignition coils
- complete rebuild of chassis (Billies B6, stock sport springs, all mountings, screws...ALL)
- hardy couplings, Mfactory LSD to 3.64 diff from automat version (+rebuild)
- powersteering fluid flush
- trany oil change

230k:
- catless headers + custom exhaust with xpipe
- both primary O2 sensors replaced (BANK 2 died)

237k:
- idrive controller died, sourced used from ebay

245k:
- idrive unit died, repair

250k:
- Valve cover, oil filter housing seals
- Both DISA flaps in intake
- Some hoses in coolant system
- new oil separator

Apart from things above, new engine oil and all filters every 8 - 15 000 KM.
And tires of course. Only PilotSport 4. Bought just 1 set so far and i think they can hold until next year.

That number looks high but majority of that is highway driving... But once i leave highway and drive home, i beat the shit out of it.

If i will not get enough money to buy E90 M3, i will most probably drive this, until the day i die
