I've heard nothing but bad things about Uro parts and had that confirmed when it was the only brand I could get at the time for a cooling system job I did; that hose failed after about 5,000 miles while the rest (and its different brand replacement) are still working great a few years later. I don't think I'd use anything of theirs without a bunch of long-term reviews...

Well to be fair random OEm BMW parts are defective. But now that I might buy a new VC in spring when the gasket is replaced I'm interested in more feedback from others using URO.

There's another company out there now called "Hamburg Technic". Anyone used them for Valve Cover? For $209 and coming up as an OE supplier that's not bad.

I have used URO parts in the past for ball joints, control arms, bushings, etc, with no issues. Fitted and worked like OEM or better. Some are even made in Germany.
I would not hesitate to buy URO parts, better than China made Ebay stuff anyway. I am planning to buy a URO parts valve cover and bolts (in the spring) and replace my OEM one .... |

If anyone is interested I've been running the Rein VC from BimmerWorld since September with no issues that i'm aware of, been chasing intermittent STFT spikes at idle but I believe that to be the 02s as I can see they're acting pretty slow. Comes with a 2 year warranty anyway.

Update on the uro vc.
Been nearly 3 years now still no leaks or cracks. Just make sure to pick up a bmw genuine gasket and ditch the uro gasket. |

Not sure why people are even mentioning doing "double the work"…it's a very easy job if you have at all familiarized yourself with the engine. Though I'm unsure which brand my vc is, I have no issues with it. If I did, I would buy the cheap one being I can get almost two of them for the price of the Bmw brand one.

Thanks for the feedback! I ordered an URO. I will provide some feedback post install.
Tyc0, hopefully as easy as you said I'm budgeting an 6 hour job since I haven't done it in the past. |

Responding to my own post years later in case it helps others make a purchase decision. I recently ordered both a Uro VC from Rock Auto and an Elring VC from FCP. Surprisingly they are identical as in I wouldn't be able to tell them apart other than one has elring stamped on it and the other has uro stamped on it, even the stamps are in the same locations...both are so similar they could have been made in same factory. Neither the uro box nir Elring box say where it was made. I will actually be returning the elring VC because the Uro is almost 3 times cheaper and exact same quality. Even the gaakets look identical on both. Of note, I purchased a separate elring vc Gasket and it does have different markings then their valve cover that comes with a Gasket. Most likely the VC is made in same factory with same Gasket used for URO and Elring VC, but individually purchased elring VC Gasket is probably made in different factory. Not sure if any difference in Gasket quality. The URO and Elring Gaskets include with their VCs are ACM material and my understanding is the Original BMW Gasket uses this same type of ACM rubber. The individual Elring Gasket doesn't have any identifiable markings to determine what type of rubber it is made of. I've run a separately purchased Elring VC Gasket since I made this original post and never had any issues with it.

Replaced Ebay valve cover that lasted 58k miles which replaced the oem at 119k. I just installed Uro valve cover with Elring gasket to see how well it holds up. Thank you guys for the feedback.
