Gearbox Issues

I have a N54 with Auto transmission, a couple days ago the shift into 4th was not smooth, felt like a little slippage (Revs jumped slightly before shifting into gear).

Took the car to the local shop, seems the oil was leaking out. Topped up with 2 liters and now it's shifting back to normal if not smoother. Obviously I am going to do a full gearbox service now with new sump and filter, oil etc.

Should I do anything else along with the gearbox service?

Yes the mechatronic sleeve commonly leaks, you may as get this done at the same time, it could well be this that's the cause of your leak.

remember to get it done by someone who knows what they are doing,,ie the zf procedure,,,oil to temp while car up on all fours running etc,,its not just a case of taking out and putting in

Thanks will change the mechatronic sleeve too!

He seemed to use the correct procedure, so I'm confident he knows his stuff!

Zoki I notice you're in London, do you mind me asking which garage / mechanic you're using for this? I'm always on the look out for a good one!

I use Auto precision in Golders Green, but mainly as its round the corner from me
