The six pot turbo engine lives on. All we need now is a coupe version. Oh-no they already have that, it's called a 1M

Do these '//M performance' cars come with a LSD? Or as even as an option?

I don't think they do as standard and I suspect this won't get one either which is a shame but you can always fit an aftermarket one.
I have to confess to never really liking the previous gen 1 series hatch too much but this actually looks very tasty and will have a brilliant 300bhp+ engine in it. Ultimate hot hatch? Only downside is that in all likelyhood it will be very expensive, I am thinking £35k plus, and no hot hatch is worth that. Still I reckon they will make a great second hand buy. |

I think it looks good. The new 1er is already growing on me (well the sportier versions are at least).

In order to be truely brilliant, it has to be reliable. The N54 is proving to be anything but unfortunately. HPFP anyone? It's never going to be the ultimate hot hatch either. Have you seen the weight of these things!

BMW finally make a 1 series that doesn't look like a dog!
I'd well have one of those! Very nice :-)

Think its the N55. If it was the N54 i'd be straight on the phone ordering now due to the fact that with a remap you'd be looking at 380bhp (ish)

This one does have the added kudos\uniqueness of being RWD though and it has the power to go toe to toe with nearly all other hatches and it's 0-60 time of sub 5 seconds certainly puts it at the head of pack. The only other contender I can see in this space at the moment is the AWD Audi RS3. I like it and I NEVER though I'd ever say that about a 1'er. |

BMW claims, officially, that in manual form the M135i is capable of cracking 0-62mph in 5.1sec. The eight-speed automatic version cuts this figure to 4.9sec.
So would you go with manual or automatic? |

It's just a dull looking car. And no different to all the other Euro boxes out there. Think the Focus or Astra is more visually appealing... |

My sister has a new 1er - a little 120d M-Sport. She ticked lots of boxes and its a cracking looking little thing in white - very nice, although I think the headlight assemblies are a bit large - almost like a kid who's been told to buy a school blazer a size too big and he can grow into it throughout the year.
Speaking more generally about the "performance products"; BMW have been lambasted for creating this performance division that straddles the void between M Sport and full-fat M-products, suggesting its taking M-clownage to a new level and raping the Motorsport heritage. I was waiting to see what they came out with before I made a call on them and now I've seen thay're releasing these products without even LSD's (as someone else further up the board asked) then this clearly is a marketing exercise and naff-all else. You could order a vanilla E36 3 series with Ltd slip diff (318is and 328is anyone?) but you can't now have one in the "specially created performance division, immediate step down from an M-car" range? Ultimate drivers car, my ring piece.

I have to say i actually like the look of the new 'M'135i.
"Ultimate drivers car, my ring piece." I agree its poor form from BMW, not to offer an LSD for the higher performance cars. It makes such a difference in how the car behaves. If i was to order another new car it would be the first extras box i would tick. Not only that but the new electronic PAS and Regen' braking system is AWFUL from a drivers perspective, maybe its different in the 'F' series cars compared the the LCI 'E' series. I really hope so. Having said that IMO IF it was about £27k with discounts i think it's reasonable value, considering cars of similar performance. Golf R, RS3, Focus RS etc |

I looked at a 125i m sport recently in the local dealers. I am a massive BMW fan it has a superb engine, estirol blue is one of my favourite all time colours. The car will drive great one if not best in class. Sadly the shape and looks does nothing for me so it's a no go for this reason.

I cancelled my order for Sport plus 135 today and going for a 3 door one.
Nothing on the dealer configurator yet but it's 4k cheaper than the sport plus to boot. |
