Whats it worth

I'm needing some help here as have had a desperate time over Xmas. Unfortunately my wife took her life in the new year. I have been trying to sort everything out and keep the kids together in one piece. The problem I have is seeing my wife's car is freaking the kids out so I need to get rid quickly. I know some of you have access to valuation guides so would really appreciate some help here. the car is a 2005 (05) Toyota Yaris 1.3 Colour Edition, 35k on the clock with full service history. Need to sell it quickly so any advice would be really appreciated.

Blimey, so sorry to hear that.

Can the car not be kept at a friends in the mean time just to keep it out of the way?
Maybe taking it to a garage for a quick sale would also be an option depening on how much you need the cash.

Sorry to hear that. I can't imagine how you're feeling. If i lived down your way you'd be more than welcome to park the car on my drive (surely someone down south can assist?) until you were ready to deal with.

But try these three for quick sale

Thanks for the kind words and the links. I have put the car in the garage for now so it is out of site so a solution for now. I tried webuyanycar.com and they offered £2.5k, are they any good?

Really does put my 1st world problems into perspective.

Maybe put an ad in the for sale section as someone here might want it even??

Hope you & kids get through this time ... sort of lost for words here

My deepest sympathies.

Webuyanycar had a reputation for giving valuations then undercutting massively when you actually took the car to one of their centres. They got into trouble from trading standards and are supposed to be better now. I'd say if you really need rid of the car then it's a quick and easy solution, not the best financially but some things matter more than money.

Sorry to hear of your troubles - can't imagine what you're going through.

Car with that age/mileage looks like it would retail at £3k, maybe a little over, so i'd expect to get £2k to £2.5k in the trade.

So sorry to hear that.

I sold my E39 to webuyanycar.com a few years ago and it all went through fine with no problems. Money was in my account within 3 working days I think

Oh dear, Chris - that is awful news.

If there's anything we can do as a forum to help just post it up.

Regarding the car; That we buy valuation seems reasonable. I'd get it shifted on there. Try the other two URLS posted above also as well - if the webuy rep tries to knock off any more than say 10% send him packing. Worth running details through those other two sites as well: Because they might offer more.

Given you just want a quick sale I'd think one of the three sites is the easiest way.

Shame I'm not in the market or I'd go for it. But looking for a much cheaper runaround unfortunately.

Awful news, so sorry to hear of your troubles.

I'd try webuyanycar etc or try a couple of local independent garages, as auto trader and eBay will attract the normal weirdos, dickheads and tyres kickers that it always does, and you don't need that extra stress at the moment.

Keep us posted.

Thanks Dave, if anyone wants to help I have set up a justgiving page to raise money for the Samaritans in her memory. The absolute shame here is that we knew she was unhappy but had no idea it was this bad and she either could not or would not get help in time. The page is on

www.justgiving.com/Chris-Glover1

Any donations gratefully received. the kids are watching and it helps show them that people do care.

Will try all three sites and see if I can play them off. Thanks to all for the kind comments. i would not wish this experience on my worst enemy.

OK: Sent a small amount. It's the very least I could do.

I would hope that as a forum we can make sure that the target you've set is easilly beaten..
