My 2011 335is got totaled on June 1st and today I finally replaced her with a 2013 model. Same BSM with saddle brown (86 interior and DCT 7spd transmission (86 made in this combination). It took me a while but I found a clean 2 owner car. However, I see that there are slight interior differences such as instead of DTC button you get a traction control button, the traction control icon is different, and you get a little storage compartment with a flap in front of the shift knob.

My biggest concern was the exhaust sounded much quieter than my 2011 model even though both are stock exhaust with no down pipes? What gives or is it just me lol? The car has 47,000 miles so I'm sure the exhaust had plenty of time to break in.

I have a 2011 and I disabled the flap in the left muffler (removed hose and capped it; stuffed it inside bumper). The exhaust is stock otherwise and sounds very nice! Maybe this was done on your 2011 and you weren't aware of it?

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay (if you don't mind us asking)? I have about 44k miles on mine and am always curious as to what it's really worth (with the low mileage).

Yea that's the first thing I did was unplug the solenoid that activates the flap so its always open. It still sounds quieter even on a cold start. Will see maybe it'll take some time and driving. I'll PM you what I paid.

Not sure then - mine is pretty loud at startup and then quiets down. I would love the same sound except louder once warm - just haven't found a system that can produce that w/out rasp...

I, too have the saddle brown and swapped out the aluminum trim for OE BMW carbon fiber (not the leather stuff). Expensive, but it's something I plan to have for a very long time... It's sooo nice :-) Now, I'm waiting for a set of MCS 2 way coilovers to arrive (after SO MANY other mods during the last few years).

What color did you get?

I am running Michelin ps4 in 265/35x19 rears & 235/40x19 on 313s. I can squeeze my stubby fingers flat between the sidewall & the fender opening, but little else. I don’t believe spacers would fit. I get a bit of rubbing in the back when the suspension bottoms out on dips, and the fronts grind on the cooler grills in the front fenders when the tires are turned to about 1/2 lock while backing up. I would not recommend going to that tall of a tire, because while the ride is much better and I’m sure they have saved me at least 3 bent rims (I had straightened 4 rims & replaced 2 before going to the bigger tire), they have a noticeable impact in acceleration.

Those are tall tires for our cars, not surprised there were fitment issues. What wheels were you running that were bending that easily? 225m?

New to the forum. Just wanted to introduce myself and the car. I picked up my '13 335is in Feb.17 after a rather lengthy search. Currently has 36K miles. It has a very late production date, 5/25/13, so that puts it as one of the last ones built I think. If anyone knows how I could find out exactly where it falls that would be awesome. I'll upload a pic soon. Cheers

No idea about the production run numbers.

I can't answer your inquiry regarding production dates, but production numbers by chassis, exterior, interior, and transmission can be found earlier in this thread here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=799243&page=4

Thanks for the welcome and the replies No Guru and b92. I used that chart in trying to track down a few rarer color combos, but went for the AW/Blk in the latest production date I could find.

Really? 313s have been good with me I believe they're forged and I hit a couple nasty unavoidable pot holes with them. I've heard the latter with the 225m's though.

Same, my car came with 225m's and they need to be refinished. I love the style but idk if I want to invest the money if they're going to end up cracking within a year.

Walnut blasting

Anyone have experience saying that on the '11-'13 335is engine that carbon build up is still a problem and that walnut blasting or some other removal is required.

OR

Anyone have experience with installing an OCC on the '11-'13 335is engine and finding that they got no oil, very little oil, or a lot of oil in the OCC?
I bought my 335IS (DCT) @ 26k miles. I bought the adaptor & media blasting equipment & cleaned the ports @ about 45K miles. The Number 4,5&6 ports were pretty heavily coked up. Nos 1-3 were lightly coked. Based on what I’ve read, the PCV discharges into the intake manifold right at port #5 and thus directs the oil mist right at the ports. With no gasoline spray to clean the ports, they become coked.

Due to what I’ve seen & cleaned, I bought a Rob Beck PVC valve & a Berger OCC and installed them @ 65K miles. I have not yet checked the catch can but my car seems to be consuming oil @ abt 5K miles per qt.

BTW, BMW have recommended walnut shell blasting for at least 30 yrs.
