Hi All

Thank you for accepting me.
Bought a 3 series N47 for about £3000 with 116000 miles off auction, drove it for a few days and it died on the M4.
I thought it was the timing chain as I could hear a metallic clicking noise when the engine was running idle, (still parked on my drive unmoved) mech said it might be the fuel pressure. He suggested that I buy a new filter and heater. I bought those parts changd but still won't start. Now he says that it might be the fuel pump (after earlier dismissing it). I have ordered one awaiting delivery.

Should i just cut my losses and sell this car as the wife fears it might be a money pit. I'm also beginning to suspect the same.

Yet another newbie signing in.

I picked up a very well spce'd n54, e92 two weeks ago, loving it so far.
2018-04-21_09-52-44 by Andrew Martin, on Flickr

Coming from an e36, M3 I'm really enjoying the torque that the n54 produces, I'm going to love it more once the K+Dcan cables arrives and I can flash a stage 1 MHD map

I'm also glad to see that the UK forum is fairly active with three new member is as many days, I had feared a platform as old as the e9* is now that the forum would be a little stagnant, far from it.

Hello!

BMW newbie in Glasgow here. I bought a 2009 318d just over a week ago. I've been scouring YouTube for hints and tips/hacks and I'm discovering new things all the time.

The biggest issue I'm looking to overcome is the lack of Bluetooth functionality. I have a Professional HU, but there is no TCU or MULF in the boot. Wondering if any of the wiring is in place from the steering wheel to the HU and potentially from the HU to the boot.

Anyway, hi!

New owner nearly

Hi guys in process of buying 2011 Series 3 330i e93 i believe it is. Wanted peoples thoughts car is up for £14000 and has covered only 26853 miles from new. Does have full history but wondered on thoughts is car ok to say low mileage, low mileage i thought could be bad as not been driven hardly. Or am i worrying about nothing . Always thought if car doesnt do much mileage it can damage engine if not hot, when driven short distances. Does stuff corrode away if stood. I have no way of knowing how its been driven but i have contacted BMW and got history. Car is from indy seller and only 3 months warranty as most dealers do now adays. Hopefully im worrying about nothing but would like thought please.

It all depends on how quickly you can find the fault and how much the part is to be repaired. I'd say take it into a decent local and get it properly diagnosed and then take it from there. No point sinking so much money into a car that cost £3,000 imo.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You would be better asking that question in the technical section as you're far more likely to get a response! - https://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=274

Thanks

Hello All been lurking for a while and thought I should say hello, had a lot of good information from this site - I recently (about 3 months) bought a BMW 335i E93 N55 and when its on full song the car is amazing, quick and fun to drive.
But Iv'e had a few issues and a steep learning curve over last few months:
i)Had a boost overpressure fault (only uphill on WOT) - vacuum pipe to boost solenoid was pinched, changed and re-routed pipe and then ok (checked charge pipes as I read the charge pipe leaking is a quite common fault and can cause boost issues, anyway these were ok at this point!)
ii)VANOS fault Code P13C9 VANOS Exhaust control fault camshaft stuck, cleaned and swapped over intake/exhaust Vanos solenoids and fault did not transfer sides but did come back as same fault. Noticed the oil was down to halfway between min and max topped back up to max and it has not re-occurred (in 500 miles but was happening after only 3-10 miles)
iii)Heard a bang from engine and immediate loss of power, engine light on and car in limp mode, had Obd Code for Mass Air Flow meter P00BD - Mass/Volume of air too high - checked charge pipes again and found end of pipe from intercooler had cracked the clip had come out and the pipe connection came off - just starting to look on ebay for replacement aluminium charge pipes!

Hello

I'll say Hello & introduce myself here as this seems to be the done thing!

My names George, I've recently purchased my 4th BMW, my 3rd E90 and first 3L petrol BMW.
I'm actually a BMW trained & qualified Senior technician and MOT tester. I've looked over this forum many times over previous years and gained valuable information on stuff i wouldn't see on a daily basis in a dealership, mainly in the sense of aftermarket ICE & Modifications!

Look forward to picking peoples brains and possibly helping out!
