I hit a raccoon about a year and a half ago. He crushed the entire bottom row of my oem FMIC, split my Aero lip clean in two, cracked 2 of the 3 lower grills, and spider webbed the paint on the bumper cover. Insurance replaced all that and bought me a VRSF front mount.

Get with your body guy and have him get with the boys from one of our sponsors like Tischer BMW and see if they will work with them on pricing. You may have to pay the differance but if you use Tischer you will get OEM Bmw parts. By the way your not just replacing the bumper cover, you are replacing the fog lights, grills and you have to modify the front undercover.

Don't know what year your 335 is but somthing like this might work...

Really? This is a BMW sports sedan were talking about not a Range Rover. Rollover - LOL.

So back in the day I owned a 1990 Honda CBR 1000. It was beautiful with Honda's red/white/blue paint scheme they used to paint up the CBRs with. I hit a racoon one night and managed to miss him with the front wheel, but got him with the chin spoiler of the lower fairing and rear tire. Cracked the faring all to hell. I did not lose the bike and stayed upright. I called my State Farm insurance agent and he did not believe me when I told him the story; he thought I dropped the bike and was trying to get the fairing replaced under comprehensive coverage; he couldn't understand how I hit a racoon and did not crash. I took the bike to the local State Farm claim review facility and when the claim adjuster saw the racoon fur stuck in the cracks of the fairing, they finally believed me.

I experienced the same thing in the mid-90s when I had an E36. Cost then to repair was $1500+

A lot of factors come into play, however, if you over correct and hit a curb/ soft shoulder (anything the rim can dig into) at a high enough speed, the vehicle will flip - that includes a sports car.

SUVs/Trucks have a much higher center of gravity and are therefore even likelier to roll, even if no curb / soft shoulder is hit... so if you're going 100 km/h on an airport runway (nice asphalt, no curbs, etc) and yank the wheel, you'll roll the vehicle. Take a car and do the same thing, you'll simply spin out - yes, due to the lower center of gravity... now that being said, that is assuming the vehicle has proper tire pressure, else the tire will roll off the rim and also cause it to flip.

Caveats, caveats, caveats....

Your original post just said "Swerving to avoid a raccoon? Bad idea... higher likelihood of rollover", impying that simply swerving (i.e. rapidly changing direction, not yanking the wheel almost to full lock like an SUV on a airport runway) could flip an E90; I don’t think so.

So hitting a curb at high speed might cause a car to flip over, if the speed is right, the curb high enough, and the angle of attack is correct, but then that's usually called a "crash". In an E90, considering the suspension breaks pretty easily, it would probably just bust up a lot of stuff. Thanks for the physics lesson on the SUV/Truck scenario; but I reiterate, we are talking about a BMW sports sedan, not and SUV. And most modern SUVs built in the last 10 years or so have stability/rollover control build into the brake system to prevent rollovers anyway. Now you throw in low tire pressure, and soft shoulders.... All E90s have TPMS so if a BMW driver is driving on tire pressure so low that unimpeded high-G cornering would rip the (45 or 50 series) tire off the rim; then maybe he disserves to get killed anyway. I’ll add that the speed it would take to flip an E90 on a surface road that would allow for such a high rate of speed that the likelihood of a raccoon being on the road in that environmental setting would be extremely rare.

Having actually flipped a car over on its roof (I’m the inaugural member of the Flip-A-Ford club - circa 1982) I’m a bit familiar with what it actually takes to end up with the wheels skyward. There’s such a small chance anyone could ever rollover a BMW E90 chassis (that is in stock form and in normal operating condition – no caveats please) by just trying to avoid a raccoon it is almost laughable.
