Apparently all sports cars have the tach on the right (which I didn't know) and BMW falls under that sports car category.

Just went and checked and the very first car I checked (my Range Rover) has it on the right.
Range Rover is not a sports car by any stretch of the imagination. I literally never even noticed, not sure why this is such a huge deal, but like I said, both types of cars can have it both ways.
