E92 LCI headlight removal guide

Does anyone have a DIY or guide to remove the front E92 LCI 2011-2013 headlights? I have seen plenty of them for the pre LCI headlights but they are slightly different on the LCI models. I have a bad LED module on mine and need to see how to safely remove the headlight assembly. I may replace the entire headlight assembly but want to try a new module first.

You can do it with the car on the ground, but it’s much easier with the wheels removed.

Headlight has 5 t30 bolts that hold it in.

2 on top that are visible.
2 near the grills for the headlight bracket.
1 on the rear outer corner for the headlight bracket that is annoying to get to. You need a t30 bit with a bit ratchet or remove the front half of the fender liner.

Also I just found this video. He says it takes 7 fasteners to remove. This video also show the light separated from the plastic headlight mount. This is why I was asking for an LCI specific DIY. It appears there are variances on how to remove the headlight.

7 fasteners including the 2 that hold the headlight onto the bracket. Its easier to remove as 1 whole piece compared to removing the light from the bracket while installed.
There’s different style washers but those are also the same to remove, just different designs for the covers.

Glad you got it figured out.

Thanks for your help. You guided me in the right direction and saved me at least $1k in parts.
