Ready for winter

Freshly refurbished in Porsche Titan Silver. Just need to seal them and put them back in storage for a couple of months

More of a 'deep' clean with a quickly buffed finish

Ed, how do you find those Wintrac Extremes? I've got a set of 17" wheels for this winter that I'm going to need to find some rubber for, so I'm thinking about giving them a shot... Cheers!

Hi Sean

I really can't rate these highly enough - I originally had a set on the 335 having got stuck in snow on both the RFT's and the Ultrac Sessantas. I sold them to fund a new set for the M3 and wouldn't go through a winter without them.

Having a commute of over 40 miles, the weather can be quite different between work and home.

I was actively looking for car parks with lots of snow last year to have a play in, not something I would have thought about doing on regular tyres.

+1 highly recommended tyre. My winters are almost ready. I just need to buy some spacers to clear my front brake caliper.

On dry warmer roads during the winter period they can feel a bit soft and you can feel the tyre thread flex, but I don't think this will be any different than other winter tyres. However you'll be amazed with them in the snow and rain. In the rain you can really feel they have more grib and can move a lot more water than your summers.

7-8mm. Drove around 4K miles on mine last year and they still look brand new. So at this rate they will last 3-4 seasons.

Very nice, where'd you get the wheels refurbed? Just got hold of a set of spare MV3's for my winters and looking to get them re-done in Ferric Grey to match my OE's

I run the Wintrac, (17" wheel set) superb tyre, excellent snow capacity on all types of snow surfaces, particularly impressive on ice/black ice.

My only observation, is the water dispersion, due to the fact we have a lot of deep standing water, particulary when a thaw sets in and we have frozen verges. For me that is the weakness, tendency to aqua-plane more than my summer tyres. But I'm sure most winter tyres will be the same.

I had those tyres on our TT over the winter last year and they were allowing us to go where only the most serious 4x4's were going around us:

Looking really good, Ed. Slightly OT, but those are some strange tyre sizes, aren't they?

From the pics it looks like you have 255/40/18 and 245/40/18?

Good spot - although not too strange!

Standard M3 sizes are 265/40/18 and 245/40/18.

19'' standard sizes are 265/35 & 245/35, but I'm running 275/35 & 255/35
