If our car have Hot-film air mass meter, can we replace it with Temperature sensor? I know thats what the euro has.

originally I thought you could just buy the IAT separately, but it looks like BMW only sells it with the airbox. So the only way is to buy an airbox or to get one from somebody who has one laying around..

I just picked up a euro airbox and removed the sensor. It's laying in a box in my garage. I was thinking of trying to sell it but no idea if its worth anything on ebay.

I just double checked and it turns out that the used euro box that was shipped to me from a private seller in Germany included the 5-pin North American MAF sensor, not the 2-pin euro one. I find that odd.

Looks like our other option is to depin the MAF like Bob said.

some euro cars used a MAF.

You can de-pin the sensor, but that's sort of pointless since you will still have the MAF sticking out into the air path.

Not sure if a dealership can't order it as it has a part number. Anything's possible. Still no answer though.
