Coolant Help

Hello guys
when I bought my car it already came with orange/pink coolant in it and I think its quite diluted too. Is it safe to run the car on this coolant or should I flush immediately and replace with BMW coolant, also the only G48 coolant I can find is from BMW directly at 9 GBP per 1500ml bottle, anyone know where else I could get G48 for a better price or is this a good price already?
Lastly, when replacing coolant, shall I carry out a flush using a radiator cleaner formula and run the car on water for 3-4 days with the flush in the radiator or is this a bad idea? I'm considering a chemical flush as my car is nearing a 100k

I was told by someone not to use a flushing formula to flush my engine oil as it may cause more damage(is this true? or is flushing the engine beneficial) than good is this true for radiator flushes as well?

car in question is 2007 325i (N53 engine)

£9 is a good price, I think I paid £12.
I'd change it soon as & would use the Bmw coolant.
As for flushing it by running it for a couple of days on water or flushing mix, personally I wouldn't do that.

I suspect that using the correct non Bmw coolant & water to flush the system by just bleeding & running it up to temp would suffice

yeh £9 is decent, you'll struggle to get it cheaper.

I flushed the system with de-ionised water to try and get as much of the old coolant as you can then filled up with bmw coolant diluted with de-ionised water.

Is there a thread where the flushing procedure is outlined? BMW doctor says bleeding is a bad idea and apparently burns out the water pump, is this true?

I did purchase de-ionised water for dilution, however I did not purchase it for flushing. Is flushing with tap water a bad idea? Also, did you use a flushing chemical?

would you know what the coolant capacity is for the said engine?

I always buy Comma G48 antifreeze, you can usually get it cheaper than BMW offer. The Comma stuff is good quality.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00..._t1_B00G6MX5NK

Is the BMW stuff for £9 pre mixed or concentrated. The link above is for 5 litres of concentrated G48 from a quick Google. If you takes some time looking you can probably get it cheaper elsewhere.

I've always found BMW expensive for consumables, their G48 is the same as the Comma stuff.

The Comma G48 is glycol based which is blue in colour. This is the same as the BMW stuff. It's made to the same spec. I've used it in my current E91 M57 and in my old E46 2.0d. it's good stuff.

There's nothing particularly special about the BMW stuff, or course they will tell you that you must use it, they have profits to make after all.

BMW engines need ethylene glycol based antifreeze with a good quality corrosion inhibitor. My old E46 did over 150k miles with Comma G48 in it, I had no problems with corrosion or degradation of any of the seals.

Whether or not you use de ionised water is a whole different argument. Personally I don't think you need it as the antifreeze will protect the engine, however it will do no harm to use de ionised water if you are happy to pay for it.

My E46 had the red antifreeze in it, I drained it, filled it up with clean water, ran it up to temp to let the stats open, then let it cool and drained it. I did this a couple of times untill the water ran clear. Then filled with glycol and bled out as I filled it. Job done.
