No DS mode while driving

Hi, I just noticed that when I move the shifter to sport mode it still shows that it’s in drive and when I put it into manual mode it goes into gear but switches back to drive? What could be the problem?

Likely the wires deteriorated. Had the same problem and had to take off the center console and reconnect/repair them. I think this thread shows it.
