I have L7 on an 06 E90 sedan. Can someone please provide a url and part number/link of the tweeter to mount as a DIY in the center?

Any tips for mounting?

Main concern I have is if the tweeter will get damaged from having the heater on high or defrost.

That will not be a problem. Think about it this way. What are the absolute extreme temperatures the car designers had to account for? In the summer, in Death Valley, you can park your car in the sun all day with air temps getting probably in the 150 degree range (maybe more?) with no damage to the tweeters. Also, the sun shines through the grilles and heats them up even more. In the winter, in Alaska, you can get down to minus 40 or so. Now, does the A/C blow as cold as the arctic air in Alaska, or does the heater produce air anywhere near as hot as Death Valley? Not likely. Plus, a few users have already done this mod successfully. Plus, the damn thing only costs like $70...

Why oh why does everyone need to overanalyze on this forum? Just do it!

I know the tweeters not too expensive and I'm planning on trying it anyways. I'm hoping to get a tweeter of Taibanl if he hasn't already sold it. Eventually I'll end up replacing it with a coaxial when I replace the rest of my speakers.

Can anyone confirm if this contains the crossover and plug so that it can be easily hooked up? If not, is there a separate part number for those pieces? Thanks.

So why would someone order it from you, if they can get the complete part wired and ready from here?

Perhaps I'm missing something?

I believe taibanl was selling a different tweeter. I know there was discussions of both 4 ohm and 8 ohm versions on his thread. I don't think its the same thing, and also, I think his may have been cheaper for one of the versions

That being said, I dont know if he is still selling them but I just ordered the tweeter from getbmwparts (part number 65139217912) which I think has the cable...

I have the 8 ohm left but at least 3 people want it.

I am so happy to have found this thread! I'm going to order the amp for the under seat subs and a tweeter for the front today. So excited! Have to get my 5 posts in so I can PM Technic to buy his harness...

I sense I am on a slippery slope ....

These are my settings Logic7 eq settings:
-3
-7
-8
-7
-3
+3
-3
Treb: +1
Bass: 0
Fade: +2 to rear

The logic being reduce frequencies instead of boosting them and reduce the amount of noise introduced, and just turn up the volume. The LCI "harman kardon" system doesn't have "music" or "concert hall" type settings and the eq starts at 80Hz. Sounds pretty good in my opinion.

In the future I'm considering adding bass. I don't want to shake the neighborhood, but do what the tweeter did - fill in a gap. System could use a bit of a punch down there.
These settings made an amazing difference for me in my 2006 e90 330i. Thanks for posting! I prefer these to the ones posted elsewhere. The "subtractive" logic makes so much more sense.

Thanks for trying them and you are welcome!
I'm of the opinion that once it's, it's setup, it's setup; a good sound system doesn't need different settings for different types of music. These work great for everything.

Glad you tried the settings.
1) I sourced this thread on bimmerfest; the OP has a sedan and the coupe settings aren't all that different (post #11 for coupe settings):
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=492794
I do like what the poster in #11 did with the top end. Experiment a bit with some music. I suggest keeping Logic 7 turned on. Start with the fade set to 0.
2) I didn't make any changes after installing the tweeter. The sound seems just right now.

Please post up your final results!
So starting with your settings, I noticed it was louder, the bass seemed more pronounced, music was fuller and I really liked where it was going. I did adjust to taste and music slightly. This might not be the best, but to my ears I like it, so after a few weeks this is where I settled on e90 Sedan-

Treble: 0
Bass: +1
Balance: 0
Fader: F +1

L7: on

EQ
100 -3
200 -5
500 -6
1k -6
2k -4
5k -1
10k +1

Please share the details of how you mounted the tweeter.

I ordered an amp to power my OEM under seat woofers. Any words of wisdom for how to properly tune it to not over drive these? I read the part about HPF them at 60 hz, the amp I bought has a LPF at 85 Hz so I'll set that, but any pointers for setting the gain properly?

The amp is the Rockford Fosgate Prime R125-2. I think it may be a little more than the recommended 150 watts peak per channel that Technic quoted me, so that is what is concerning me.

You do NOT want to LP the under seats @ 85....you want them playing up to 150-200hz

Try and HP them at something above 40...more power, then higher HP freq.

Oops that is what I meant. It has a non adjustable HPF mode at 85 or an AP, or LP which is adjustable and then there is a bass boost that adjusts the low end if in LP mode. So it sounds like my only option is to just set this HP mode from what I just said there hehe.
