Anyone else have difficulty starting this morning at -30C?

My car was parked outside over night, and temps were -30C.
Started on the first try but it took a few hesitating turns and the radio was dimming in and out during the turns.

Got me a bit worried, battery is about 1.5 years old, original from bmw.
Surprisingly the Nissan and Lincoln started up normal with slight hesitation.

Anyone else had difficulty in GTA or similar climate?

E90 battery depleted, had to use a charger to start but it's a few years old so not too surprised that it happened in this cold. F36 struggled on first attempt but eventually started and it's only a couple of months old.

Car started fine this morning but the rear defroster did not function and the blower fan was limited to 50-75%. Didn't regain full fan speed until like 10kms of driving but rear defroster is still out so i'm guessing the battery is still low on charge.

I've had difficulty in the past when parked outside overnight on extremely cold nights. Struggled on first attempt, started on second.

That was a couple years back on my original battery. Have since replaced, but my car is usually parked in a garage.

I wish starters were easier to put into these cars : )

Had to replace my battery two weeks ago due to this 4 week long deep freeze. Never in my 22 years in this country have I seen a winter with a whole month of consistently -20C or lower temps. Insane.

Anyways, yup my 328 took a few extra turns to crank over in the morning a few times these days... Poor car. All the LCD displays are super laggy and fade in slow-motion too, lol.

Slow starts and LCDs aside, mine did it's cold weather quirk on Saturday for the first time in a couple years.

If it's been parked outside < -20 degrees for a bunch of hours, long enough to mostly cool down but not completely, it will throw a valvetronic code and goes into torque limited limp mode. Have to shut it down, start it up and not let it go completely to idle until it's warmed up a little. It really sucked at a job I had a couple years ago when it would cut torque while going up the 401 between Leslie and the 404.

If it sits outside all night, it's fine. Slow to start, but no limp mode.

Mine took a few seconds to start too. Got me a little worried. I park in a garage but on the weekends I park outside and that's what happened lol

Fairly normal given the low temps we've had.
The battery just does not have enough cranking amps during the cold as it got depleted over night.
Canada EH !

Even my 2 year old escalade had troubles starting.

I have noticed slow cranks on all my cars. Even my Swiss watch running Hyundai Elantra ( Compression on all cylinders is 200 psi on that car !) had trouble starting the other day.

Replaced my battery for the BMW the other day it was original. It worked ok but the new battery cranks better.

Just checked real oem and same cable is listed for N54 and N55 engine

Ground cable: 12427549393

Although if the cable is the problem the issue would be present regardless of the temperature.
