Front Crank Seal Tool Kit in Portland, OR area?
Hi All,
Is there anyone in the Portland, OR area with the front main/crank seal removal tool kit I could borrow for a day? Spending some time under the car last night, I spotted what appears to be a leak from the front main seal. Still waiting to run another test with UV light to confirm leak source. Luckily the serpentine belt is still dry, but is certainly a looming concern as the leak progresses. I have an N51-powered 328i with 170K on the clock. Based on info available on FCPEuro, I think the N51-4 engines may all use the same kit. A couple of BMW-specific indies in the area quoted ~$700 for what appears to be a pretty DIY-able job with the right tools (especially compared to the oil pan gasket which I replaced myself about 45K miles ago). Proper tools would make me much more confident in doing this myself. Greatly appreciate any help! N |

Hi,
I have one in Salem, if you've not found one yet. Worked pretty good when I had my belt wreak havoc. I messed up my first seal not getting it in there right, so it took me a second try lol. I think I asked on here too before I paid the 200 bucks on eBay. David |
