Exclamation WTB E92-328i-n52 DSSR

Howdy!

It's rather difficult to find a DSSR made for my exact engine/chassis configuration (E92-N52). It should have a bend 3/4 the way up the shaft.

If you have one, name your price!!! I would very much like to have one!

AKG brand preferred.

Thanks!

DSSR

I have a 2007 e90 xdrive, also with the N52. I am looking at improving the shifting. Are the rods for the E92 the same as for the E90?

Did you consider having one made for you?

They are not the same. Somehow the geometry is different between the transmission, guibo, and shift carrier. UUC had sent me one that was for the e90, and it did not clear the guibo.

Where could I have one made?

DSSR Fabrication options

The DSSR is not a complicated part, and depending on your skills and tools you could make one yourself, or have a machine shop make one. The challenge would be copying one that has already been made and proven to work. I would be ok DIYing something for myself, but not commercially or for others due to liability concerns.

In my case, I would make it out of carbon fibre over a shaped piece of wood, just because those are the materials I can work with easily. Others will have other options.

Did you return the DSSR for the sedan?

I do not have access to machining equipment, and my machining experience starts & ends at trimming bolts to size and using a dremel to widen orifices (such as on the Oil filter housing)

I had returned it.

Seems like everyone is sold out, and AKG has yet to reply to my inquiry.

DSSR

If you have access to the DSSR in your car, you could take a piece of that foam over wire that they use to hold up tomatoe plants in gardens. Bend it exactly to the shape you need for your car and mark the pin/bolt locations. You could then take it to a machine shop who could bend a piece of aluminum rod to that shape and drill two wholes in it for the bolts/pins. Check out the local community college if they have a machinist/welding/metal program.

If you want to DIY, take your foam model, wrap it in fibreglass tape, apply JBweld epoxy, and repeat until you get to about 1/2". Let dry, drill for the bolts/pins and check out your handi-work. Glass and JB-Weld will be less than $30 and you will have a new skill.

Good luck.
