Warranty due to expire

Hi guys
Just had my letter in warranty is due to expire, went to site for a new quote
Bmw E92 lci 320d Msport 34000 miles
Got quote for comprehensive £250 excess with emergency cover £35 a month
Was going to go for named component but it's £32 a month so not much difference. Only thinking of renewing due to timing chain threat really and car 5 years old now.
. Just looking for advice anyone had to claim on the insured scheme? How good is it? Breakdown cover any good?
Any words of wisdom appreciated as always
Thanks

I renewed the warranty on my 61 plate 335d earlier this year.

Not had to use it yet, nor the breakdown cover, so can't comment but from what i've read elsewhere on the net, it is very good, with hardly any conplaints, unlike 3rd party warranty companies.

I opted for the £100 excess and slightly higher monthly payments as I felt the warranty was more useable that way

My 335i was pretty reliable. This X3 f25 has had the steering rack replaced ($4,000 + $1000 in labor) , then the water pump failed (57,700miles) and it was about $1000 parts $1000 labor) and as I drove away with a nicely washed vehicle , the adaptive headlight malfunctioned and I turned around an it was another $1000 .
So if you don't have cash just stashed in your account then I would think about renewing .
