Nope still searching for either: a. Tuner with RR and experience of N53. On the continent I have found several but the closest in Luxembourg, at claiming 280-290bhp on a 330i n53 stock.. b. A way to reset the DME to less than 10 operating hours so it can be recoded to a 330i. There's a chap on bimmerpost who knows how to do this but he isn't giving much away... Theres also russian tool called ECU explorer that can do it but its a 1000 euro... Otherwise someone who knows the ECU with BDM could find it and hex edit it i think.. |

Got hold of a 3 stage manifold, no idea what to do about tuning it though but I think I'll run it for a bit without a tune until I can find a solution. I've read that tuners found a way around the 10 hour DME limitation, but I haven't heard any evidence for that though.
I'm guessing you still haven't found a tuner? |

Just see this thread guys. Thought it would be an idea for me to share what I can.
Like you guys the only place in the u.k that can do it seems to be m style on behalf of mosselman. What mstyle actually do is pull you current tune off of your ecu, send it over to the geeks at mosselman with a list of your current mods, they take their generic 330i tune and play with things to suit basic mods like exhaust, decat, air filter etc. They then send it back over to mstyle who then load it onto your ecu. The tune is instantly noticeable and is less money and headache than heading over to Germany. Then once back from mstyle If you do want to perfect it you could take it over to the guys at BW and get them to put it on their rolling road and fine tune it as they can tune both N53 325i and 330i cars. They just haven't ever tried programing the use of the flaps in the 3 stage manifold. Regarding the types of manifolds you can get as far as I know it would have to be from a 2009+ as 2006-2008 used the n52 block and not the n53 and the manifolds come up different. I found this out the hard way. If you guys are planning on fitting the manifold yourself its an easy enough job apart from the oil breather underneath, that's a slight headache and be careful not to drop anything down the ports. The car can run fine on the manifold before the tune. If you want to ask me any questions just P.M me or quote this post so I get a notification and I will get back to you. Ah shit, my manifold is a 2006 n52b30. What kind of issues did you have? I did a lot of research and couldn't determine any major differences except the additional oil separator.

Well I took all the original manifold out, went to put in the n52 manifold not realising and oil breather connections were different and nothing lined up. Luckily I managed to send the manifold back to the breakers for a refund but I had the headache of fitting my old manifold back on.

Ah so it's not even possible to adapt it? Thanks, you've saved me the same nightmare you had to go through! I guess I'll just sell this one on and hang tight for an n53 manifold.

That's alright, you could just get the car remapped by bw chiptune with the standard manifold, you will get around 260bhp, better power curve and better throttle response.

I want the extra torque in the low revs so I couldn't resist hunting down an N53 330i manifold
Next dillema, is it something I should tell the insurance company about? I can't imagine they'd ever realise that I had an upgraded manifold, but not sure if it's worth the risk especially as I'll be upgrading the exhaust so they'll know it's a missed car. Did anyone's insurance increase by much or get revoked? Anyone not bothered telling them? Last edited by 4foothill; 09-14-2016 at 01:50 AM.. |

Can you imagine that conversation with your insurance company?
'Hello. I need to tell you I have replaced the manifold on my car with one from a 330i' 'Your what sir?' 'My engine manifold. I have fitted one from a 330i.' 'You have put an engine from a 330i in your car?' 'No. Just the manifold' 'What's a manifold' '...I've bascially made my a 325i a 330i so there should be a reduction in my insurance as 330is are cheaper to insure than 325is' 'Does it make the car go faster sir?' 'Well yes' 'Hmmm. That will be an extra....£150 year added to your premium sir. Shall I put that through right now?' |

Just insured my n53 530i and it was under 250 quid. Cheapest insurance I've ever had.
I'd not mention the change of manifold personally. I'm all for declaring mods usually but this is neither here nor there. On its own it won't make the car faster. |

There a N53 330I breaking:
https://en.shpock.com/i/WFJhPVDeBRdMi0WW/ After a lot of ringing round I found that Maptech can do the N53 325i to 330i custom tune to make use of the DISA flaps/valves. http://www.map-tech.co.uk/index.htm Planning to get it done there shortly... Probably going to geta 335i exhaust and remove the secondary CATs first... Busy modding my E46 M3 and a couple of other project so this has been on the back burner. Essex lad, thanks for the update on your experience with Mstyle, have you put the car on a RR with and result you could share? thanks Will |

Thanks for the update will. It's good to know that there is a UK based company that offer the remap.
Did they say they've done it before? I keep meaning to get mine on a rolling road. I'm gonna take it to Surrey Rolling Road. On a slightly off topic subject, does you N53 use any oil between services? |
